It's February so it's that time of year again when I talk about body neutrality. Now, if you've spent your life hating your body like I have, it might just be too much for you to feel or think positively about your body, and that's okay. You don't have to think it's a good body. All I'm asking is that you acknowledge that it is a body. Instead of thinking to yourself what a horrible body you have with all the this and the that that you want to change, try looking at your body and instead think of the things your body does for you. Think of how it gets you places. Maybe not in the way you'd like, but it gets you there. Think of how your body houses your organs. It sure would be messy if it didn't! These aren't meant to be super positive yay things. They're meant to be kinda bland and boring and obvious. You have a body! That's it! Because you can build a neutral habit around your body the same way you built that negative one. If self-hate was gonna change anything, babe, it would have already. And yeah, I'm talking to you thinspo peeps. My eating disorder almost killed me. Don't let yours kill you. You've made hating yourself your whole personality while everyone around you just wants to love you. And yeah, you can say I don't know what I'm talking about because I'm fat. I'm fat and I'm alive. My body doesn't always work right, but it's the only one I have so I'm gonna do my best to take care of it. I don't always feel beautiful in the clothes I wear, but I feel beautiful in my husband's arms. You deserve to heal. You deserve to live. This is your sign to be a little bit nicer to yourself. Get that help if you need it. Hug a friend and tell them why you love them. You matter for no other reason than that you're you.
