The Höllentalanstieg to the Zugspitze

The Höllentalanstieg offers a unique alpine experience in the heart of the Bavarian Alps. The name "Höllental" might put some people off, but this is precisely the route that attracts countless climbers every year looking for an adrenaline rush and breathtaking natural scenery.

Starting point is Hammersbach

The climb begins in the picturesque village of Hammersbach. From here, follow the trail along the Höllentalklamm, an impressive gorge with thundering waterfalls and steep rock walls. For many, the passage through the gorge is already a highlight.

After crossing the gorge, you reach the Höllentalangerhütte, which is located at 1,387 meters above sea level. This place is perfect for a rest or even an overnight stay to strengthen yourself for the further ascent.

The real challenge of the Höllental climb begins with the via ferrata, which leads over the infamous "Brett" passage. This is an almost vertical wall with iron pins and clamps hammered into the rock. Despite the secured areas, this section requires a head for heights and a good physical condition.
