Happy Wednesday everyone! The moderators apologize for our lateness involving the clone event, but we’re finally back on track and we want to get everything started. We’ve gone over the feedback we’ve been given for this event and we’re ready to apply it to the general plot.
First and foremost we want this event to begin August 4th this Saturday. We apologize for having put it off longer than intended, and thus we’d like to begin as soon as possible. We plan for this event to run for two weeks officially as many stated they would prefer it not to be dragged out. Keep in mind that the mercenaries will still have to deal with the impact this event will make on the base for time to come. But we want to limit the actual event to two weeks.
As well we are going to make a post asking for a roll call for clones (it will be posting soon after this). The call will be open until August 3rd this Friday. We will take all of the people who signed up and do randomly choose who will have unique abilities/conditions. As stated before 20% of the clones will be less mutated (and thus capable of being spies) and 20% will have unique abilities (more on that in the roll call post). However, we believe that 40% should then be weaker than their mercenary counterparts to counteract this. We will alert everyone of what their character got before Saturday.
We won’t be accepting any applications to join Mountain Lab until the event has officially ended. We will still review characters that come our way, but we won’t bring in any new mercenaries until things have concluded.
Note: It was proposed that the Engineers at Mountain Lab may have realized their was a glitch in the respawn system and by tinkering with it they may have made the problem worse (thus resulting in the "special ability" clones). We approved of this idea, and encourage people who play Engineers to incorporate this into their writing. However, we ask that you ask the mods about what you want your character to have exactly done and when (as to avoid god modding). The Admin may or may not be aware of their involvement.
This is a general schedule for the event.
There’s obviously an overarching goal that the clones are working towards (destruction of the base, killing their counterparts, obtaining their freedom) and thus we want to suggest certain things for this to move along. Keep in mind, though, we totally expect and want your characters to operate under their own motivations. But these are some tasks we suggest they strive for in order to obtain the overarching goal.Â
The first week we want to reserve to the clones organizing amongst themselves and attempting to undermine the mercenaries. This is when the clones who are less mutated will come in most handy; they can serve as spies who can sneak into the bases. Ultimately we suggest that, during this time, the clones attempt to sabotage their counterparts. This can be done through stealing weapons, destroying food supplies, cutting power, and attempting to take out cameras. By the end of the first week, however, the Administrator will become aware of the situation. He will then announce it to the Mercenaries and turn off the respawn system.
The second week we want to reserve for the actual fighting. This will basically be war time where the clones can target the mercenaries and act on their own ambitions. And, of course, the mercenaries will fight back in response. We anticipate the bases to be damaged in this time. We do not expect that all of the clones will be killed in this time. In fact we encourage that some survive. By the end of the second week Marcus will return with the threat of reinforcements. This will ultimately put an end to the event, as to not let it drag out, and give the surviving clones a reason to back down. We’d love for a good number of them to survive so we can possibly revisit this plot at a future date (perhaps around Halloween).
If there are any issues anyone has with this schedule please bring it to our decision immediately! We hope it does not seem as if we’re trying to dominate the entire event with our schedule. But, rather, we want to try and prevent it from dragging out too long (like we suspect the Avalanche event did).
As well we definitely encourage everyone to run with these ideas as well as come up with their own. Remember your character doesn’t have to have the exact same ambitions as the entire group. Your character could be a traitor, a neutral party, or something else. We just encourage that you communicate with whoever you interact with and get permission before committing actions IC that affect people largely (we don’t want to god mod). We suggest maybe using dice rolls when fighting in large groups to help determine damage. But, ultimately, it is your choice.
But please destroy things, raise hell, and shoot people. This is Mountain Lab after all!
