-What was your first fandom?
- If we're counting, read the books, seen the movies, and EVERYTHING, then Lord of the Rings. I read the Hobbit when I was 8 and I've been unhealthily hooked ever since. I've seen and owned all the movies, I have the entire soundtrack, two sets of the books, some written companions, and a copy of the Silmarillion that my Grandpa gave me (I'm a couple chapters into it. It's so pretty and complicated a book that it's hard to not keep rereading chapters). The only book in the trilogy I haven't read yet is "Return of the King." I've read the other two in the trilogy at least 4 times each and I've read "The Hobbit" over 13 times. I even know a little Quenya. I regret nothing.
-Favorite class in high school? (or the equivalent in other countries)
- I was homeschooled, but I can give you my favorite GED classes: Book Club, Science, and English.
My science teacher actually let us blow things up, shoot rockets and go on field trips. She was also the orchestrator of the book club and we had a lot of the same taste in stories. Passing a good book around and hearing everyone read aloud was a lot of fun. It's also how I got into Ranger's Apprentice. We still chat sometimes.
English class... Oh gosh... My English teacher. I had the biggest crush on her, and I'm pretty sure the rest of the class did, too. She was beautiful and sweet and patient and kind, she was always there if you needed someone to talk to, grounded, down-to-earth, and very good and strict with her teaching, but she was also able to make class fun. She would bring in music and anecdotes, assign us the most interesting papers, and one time she had us all sit down on the floor so we could write about our childhoods from the point of view of children. I was very sad when she had to leave for California, but I wished her the best. She honestly helped me to like writing even more than I already did.
-If the Doctor promised you ONE time/place to visit anywhere in space and time, when, where and why?
-Since I can't go back in my own timeline, I'd want to go to 19th Century London. The 19th Century is my favorite era (1800's FTW) worldwide, and I would really love to see it up close. There were a lot of great writers and up-and-coming inventors then, I would love to meet Dr. Joseph Bell, I wouldn't mind planting good ideas in some genius heads, and hey, I really want to try the clothes. I would totally come back home with an authentic top hat, one of those epic ruffly dresses, classic Victorian shoes and a mind-blowing greatcoat.
-Number one celebrity crush?
-Hm... That's a toughie... For now, I'm gonna say Martin Freeman. I will literally watch/listen to/look up ANYTHING with him in it.Â
-Forgetting to clean out my guppies' fishbowl. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy do way too much putting up with my forgetfulness.
-If you could live anywhere where would you live?
- Sussex, London, or Liverpool, England. Osaka, Japan, Venice, Italy and New York, NY are the other places I'd like to live for a while, but I feel like England is where I might settle.
-Where is your favorite place to be?
-Onstage, I suppose, rehearsing, playing an unusual character, doing improv with a group. I really like dressing up, going into a character I know, doing comedy and showing off. I've got great admiration for Whoopi Goldberg.Â
-Who would win in a fight, Dumbledore or Gandalf?
-Oh gosh... This is an impossible question. Ermm... I just can't see them fighting. I imagine they'd be the best of friends. I guess Dumbledore would win the fight and then Gandalf would come back with a different color robe and they'd have tea.
-Why did you choose your Tumblr URL?
- "DetectiveDannie," is based on something my Fem!John (and best long-distance friend) and I came up with a while ago. She decided to write a story based on the idea of me being a descendant of Sherlock Holmes and her being a descendant of Dr. John Watson. Â I thought her idea was brilliant, so we immediately started work on coming up with names for our characters and doing a plot. Of course the characters would be female now, but she wanted to keep the original initials of Conan Doyle's characters. We came up with Sheridan and Juliet, and then almost immediately decided that their nicknames were Dannie and Jules. Ever since then, we've periodically called eachother by those nicknames. Since Sheridan is an amateur detective/fangirl aspiring to be like Holmes in the story that we're still working on together(and I basically am in real life, too), I thought that it would fit to use that and my character's name/my nickname as my URL, since I knew my blog would have a lot of Sherlock on it. DetectiveDannie just happened to flow better than DetectiveSheridan. ^^
-Another tough question... Gluten-free pizza with a lot of stringy cheese and italian sausage.
