new enemy unlocked: 12 hockey players playing tag on the public rink session with no regard for skating direction or anyone obviously practicing

i moved my skating lesson days to an adults only session and man. yeah i needed to do this

they taught us how to do backwards outside edge half lemons and half stars and im just like finally, a backwards figure skating thing that clicked for me immediately. the only critique she had for me was about building power/speed im :'))

skating backwards feels marginally less terrifying but man i still suck at it so much

the pain of having someone at the rink start latch onto you for the session and you very quickly realise that all of their competitive figure skating knowledge comes from post-2022 russian figure skating tiktoks............................

i went ice skating with my friends for my birthday yesterday and it was such a lovely time, we're probably gonna do it again next year 😭🥺
