just having thoughts also need to update my icon at some point. but i love alien anatomy shit and biology planning and stuff and i like carapacians so much and also get to handwave some things specifically in terms of. them having not evolved ideally. like it wasn't survival of the fittest, what works best is what survived best- they don't have natural predators or anything, besides they're literally game npcs. I think it works better if their bodies are designed yes for function, but almost even moreso, for the LOOK, because you want cool and evocative npc designs. i like drawing them a certain way now and have different biological headcanons for them and stuff but there's a version of them in my head too where they look just like in canon, with the types of joints we see on BQ's hands and ankles all over like fucked up mannequin chess pieces :]
