I'm embarrassed to have missed a #MortMonday, but here's a timely Mort... Tuesday? No, no, that can't be a thing.

If Mort were in a 3D Platformer he'd probably have to worry about things like climbing bars, but thankfully he's in a peaceful friend-making RPG.

Ahoy, mateys!  It's Mort Monday and Talk Like a Pirate Day, so what better villain to showcase than one for whom everyday is Talk Like a Pirate Day: Captain Stingaree! Created by Bob Rozakis, Michael Uslan, and Ernie Chan, Captain Stingaree first appeared in Detective Comics v.1 #460 (June 1976).

Born into a set of quadruplets, Karl Courtney always felt he was different from the rest of his family.  So of course he put on a pirate costume and became a super-villain.  Captain Stingaree was convinced that one of his brothers was Batman, so the real Batman persuaded the Courtney brothers to dress up as Batman as bait.  Once all three are captured and unmasked, the real Batman and The Flash, spring their trap and capture the bewildered villain. Captain Stingaree later joins up with the Secret Society of Super-Villains, where he teamed up with Captain Boomerang and Captain Cold to prove their mastery over land, air, and sea.  Spoiler alert- the best part might be when the three captains hijack a space-station by flying there in a giant space boomerang.  And how much money did they expect to make from ransoming astronauts?  Enough to pay for a giant space boomerang? Black Lightning discovered Captain Stingaree and his fellow Batman foe, The Cavalier, were in a relationship, and blackmailed them to gain information about the super-villain underworld. Captain Stingaree was apparently killed by Jeanette when battling the Secret Six.  But you can’t keep a bad villain down.  Captain Stingaree recently made his first appearance in the Rebirth era in Batman v.3 #6 (7 September 2016). Rumor has it that he will become a member of Batman’s Suicide Squad. These comics (and many more) are part of the DuGarm Collection at the University of Iowa Special Collections.
