Report 638-05y: Claims to Title, Seraanna Longveil
Seraanna Longveil (renâdorei), and her younger sister Annadia (sinâdorei), are the only known survivors of the Morrowsun bloodline, a house once thought to have gone extinct in the Fall of Quelâthalas.
Morrowsun was a quelâdorei house of modest holdings on the southern borders - the Marches - of Quelâthalas. Almost a century before the First War, Lord Vaeran Morrowsun, formally addressed as Marquis, entered into an alliance of marriage with Telnia Roselight, the daughter of a well-placed merchant family. The Roselights received entry into title and nobility and all it entailed, while Morrowsun gained much-needed resources and an entry into finance.
It was an open secret that the marriage was one of alliance, not love, and that Vaeran kept a mistress, Aralya Longveil, known since his youth. Telnia gave birth to a son hailed as the Morrowsun heir, cementing the union of Morrowsun and Roselight. Meanwhile, the daughters of Vaeranâs mistress, Seraanna and Annadia, were considered illegitimate lest Roselight withdraw their alliance.
Arthas Menethilâs scourging of Quelâthalas ravaged Morrowsun lands, and the Morrowsun line was slaughtered in the ensuing carnage. Similarly, Aralya perished when the Lich Kingâs forces reached Silvermoon but her grown daughters, Seraanna and Annadia, survived the invasion and harsh times immediately thereafter (see historical report 001-06g). With House Morrowsun thought extinct, Kaelâthas and his Magisters seized most of its assets and redistributed them to their allies as Quelâthalas attempted to rebuild.
Thirty-four years later, near the closing of the Fourth War, a packet of documents was presented to the offices of Regent Lord Lorâthemar Theron. (Refer to report 631-12c regarding disturbance and fire in the Ghostlands.) Dated from the run-up to the Scourge invasions and bearing Vaeran Morrowsunâs witnessed seal, the documents conferred legitimacy upon Seraanna and Annadia as heirs of Morrowsun âshould my house otherwise come to ruin.â
The solicitors involved, Vorâmin and Alesstus Evercrown, presented a case that managed to survive the challenges of the noble houses that had profited from the fall of Morrowsun. Ultimately, the sisters were allowed to claim the house name, title, and remaining (uninhabitable) estate - on the condition of renouncing any claim to the lands and assets previously seized and redistributed.
Seraanna now holds the title of Marquessa (Lady of the Marches) of Morrowsun although she rarely uses the title and has shown little interest in noble machinations, particularly as renâdorei remain unwelcome in Silvermoon. She owns, through legitimate agents, (vetted, no irregularities found) a controlling interest in a building on the edge of Stormwind Harbor where she often makes her residence. However, sheâs spent most of the last three years near the Temple of the Jade Serpent in Pandariaâs Jade Forest (cross reference report 636-18m, subheading âAlchemistâ)
Annadia, using her affected surname of Thorn, seems even even less inclined to politics and prefers her role as Captain of the Aralyaâdiel, a newly-christened clipper from the shipyards of Suramar (report 637-12e). Not only is it unusual to see a private vessel completed while both navies are still under reconstruction, the Aralya'diel has a difficult-to-obtain dispensation to dock in Alliance harbors (request permission to examine signing authorizations, cross-reference with financial transactions and spending patterns). Such dispensations are a recent development of the armistice; Horde crew or passengers of such vessels are limited to the docks and harbor only.
The brothers Evercrown remain as Morrowsunâs solicitors and representatives in matters of business and finance. (Background checks have not borne fruit, refer to assets in Dalaran and Suramar for further investigation.)
Queries submitted to Stormwind's intelligence agencies have resulted only in documents so redacted as to be useless. Similar queries to Silvermoon have returned only the registration of House Morrowsun upon the rolls, with no other matters addressed.
â Respectfully submitted, Agent C. Nath
Agentâs note: I understand that previous reports establish Longveil as a person of interest, and Thornâs actions and associations as a potential infiltration risk, but neither seem to bear inclination or motive to pose meaningful threat. The Evercrowns are most notable for escaping notice but, while I expected them to have a more visible profile, they seem to operate only rarely within Alliance purvey. Permission requested to reduce priority of this line of research for higher priority subjects.
Response: Request denied. Continue research and observation.

They were in Dalaran, walking by the stonework entrance to the Underbelly on their way to the Legerdemain when Annadia made the short, bitter comment.
âWhat is... it that you speak of, sister? Who ought you have shot?â Seraannaâs quiet voice barely lifted above the sound of their tread on the cobbled streets.
The rogue turned to her quieter sibling, golden eyes flicking only briefly to the faint wisps of shadow that trailed in the renâdoreiâs wake. There was no reproach in Seraaâs tone, no darkening of shadow to give warning of offense. Only the quiet question.
âYou know who,â Anna finally replied. âI found her in the Underbelly the first time we met - after you were shot on Hilltop. Had her dead to rights, too. She was supposed to be the one to protect you, Seraa. All those words she said, all that talk - fel, even I bought it. And she dumped it all for a book and that mouthy cousin of hers.â She snorted, frustration apparent. âHow can you be so fucking serene about the whole gods-damned thing?â
Seraannaâs eyes closed briefly as they walked, âYou wish me to... rail against anotherâs truth? I am my own, dear... sister. As are you, as is... she, as was the exquisite distraction. All paths may be embraced as... truth, and it is not for... me, or for you, to decide what anotherâs may be, no matter the... mortal giving I may desire.â
âSeraa, canât you just - call her a bitch or something? Get drunk, find someone to drag to bed and fuck senseless?â The sinâdorei shook her head, long ebon hair moving in waves. âJust be angry about it, for fuckâs sake.â
âOh... no.â A faint, sly smile crept across Seraannaâs face. âThat is most certainly not... to be desired.â She paused in her steps to look at the sign to her left. âWe are... arrived.â
The Legerdemain Lounge, like most establishments in Dalaran, was open to those of either faction. The two elves, one sinâdorei and the other renâdorei, werenât even worth a second glance from the staff or most of the clientele, save for one. Another sinâdorei - blonde, well-groomed, and immaculately dressed - rose from a table to approach the pair as they entered.
âThe sisters Longveil?â His tone was respectful, bordering on obsequious. At Annadiaâs curt nod of affirmation, he bowed and motioned towards the stairs. âIt is our pleasure. A room has been reserved upstairs for this eveningâs business. Please, come with me.â
The room was small, and marks on the floorboards made it easy to guess that a bed had been hastily cleared out in favor of a table and chairs. Another sinâdorei, equally groomed and dressed, was already seated while an imposing specimen in the armor of a Blood Knight stood guard at the back of the room. A sideboard was laden with fruits, cheeses, sliced bread, and two fluted decanters of wine - one the cold blue of voidblend, even though Seraanna was the only renâdorei present.
âVorâmin Evercrown.â The sinâdorei at the table rose and bowed his greetings. âAnd you must be the sisters Longveil, Annadia and Seraanna. I see youâve met Alesstus.â Vorâmin gestured to the vacant chairs at the table. âPlease, have a seat, and we can begin our business.â
As Annadia and Seraana took places at the table, Alesstus poured glasses of wine for each before moving to stand at one side of the room.
âYou have the signet, yes?â Vorâminâs tone was gently expectant.
From a pouch at her belt, Seraanna extracted the ring sheâd recovered from the Ghostlands. That sheâd taken from the twice-dead corpse of their father. Twists of shadow working about her fingers, she carefully placed the ring on the table and took up the glass of voidblend Alesstus had set for her. âThat is all... you require?â
Vorâmin had pulled an elaborately embroidered glove over his right hand and reached out to pluck the ring from the table. âOh, certainly.â Â The blood elf smiled without humor, âI take it none of your compatriots thought to take it up from you? Just as well. In the future, be certain that only the two of you handle it, yes? Others might find the experience - unpleasant.â
At a gesture from Vorâmin the blood knight brought out a container of indeterminate metal and placed it on the table. It was broad and shallow and nearly featureless save for a decorative inset at its center. Vorâmin pressed the ring into the inset, a soft click sounding before the top of the container folded open. Sheaves of papers were contained within, topped by a vellum envelope.
âI believe this,â Vorâmin remarked in a cultured voice, âis for you.â He lifted the envelope from the container and extended it - Annadia snatched it from his hands and tore the envelope open, extracting the single sheet of parchment within.

Daughters,
If this rests in your hands, then everything else Iâve nurtured is lost.
Know that I loved your mother, even if she was not my wife. Love, you may find, is a lean and delicate thing when faced with the intrigue of millennia. I married as I did to ensure the survival of something greater than myself, and I make no apologies for my choice. And yet, as I write this, you are your motherâs joy, and I am sorrowed that I can give her no more than you.
Still, if this is in your hands, then all of that has been for naught. I pray you never read this, that my choices are not laid out before the ages as futile.
Yet if you do, know that you are Morrowsun.
What is here acknowledges you as my daughters, as my blood. Gives you right to the lands of my name, to the holdings and assets of what was my house. What is now your house, something that must continue beyond my being or your own.
Care for it, daughters, as I cared for your mother.
Anu belore delaâna.
Vaeran Morrowsun
--
âFuck me,â Annadia muttered, leaning back in her chair and handing the letter over to Seraanna before she emptied her wineglass in a single go.
Seraanna glanced over the letter once, then again, before lifting her half-lidded gaze to the sinâdorei across the table. âOur mother was our... fatherâs mistress, his estates were... seized by the Magisters,â she murmured, âin the time after Silvermoon was Scourged, given to Kaelâthasâ lackeys to... cement his power as our people faltered afterward. This bears.. nothing, Master Evercrown, does it.. not?â
âLord Morrowsun was of long vision, but none expected Arthas Menethil. Still, we bear far short of nothing - Lady Morrowsun.â Vorâmin inclined his head.
Seraanna lifted an eyebrow at the title, even as Annadia gestured to Alesstus for more wine. â...explain.â
âThat which has been taken may not be recovered,â Vorâmin explained. âThe estate and Lord Morrowsunâs extant assets were indeed seized by the Magisters in the time after the Scourging of Silvermoon. Lawfully, by every measure. Yet it was not only a mistress that your father kept. We,â his gesture included Alesstus and the guard, âour organization, exist to nurture assets beyond what is traditionally acknowledged.â
He glanced at Annadia, even before the rogue was able to wag her tongue, âYour goblin associate is a pale echo of what we provide.â
âThe papers here document Lord Morrowsunâs more... private wealth, which we have stewarded since he, his wife, and his acknowledged heir fell in the Scourging of Silvermoon. They also contain formal documentation that you are his daughters of blood - acknowledgement he never offered in his own life - thus making you both heir to his assets, name, and house. Such as remains.â
Vorâmin steepled his hands. âThe assets are considerable and, should you wish, we will continue to manage them on your behalf. It is fortunate that only one of you embraced the Void. Otherwise, by the edicts of banishment, all assets would have reverted to the Regency.â
âAs for your house?â His sharp exhalation might have been a snort, âDo not expect to stand among the aristocracy of Silvermoon. No lands are remaining to Morrowsun, your house is empty - no matter that you still possess a name, it is a name only. Maybe it will bear weight among the banished pretenders that have turned to Stormwind,â Vorâmin looked to Seraanna, âif such games are to your taste.â
Half her refilled glass of wine already gone, Annadia grinned openly. âBut weâre rich, right? The old man had a big stash before Arthas fucked everything, I know that.â
âIndeed, Lady Morrowsun.â Vorâmin inclined his head, âThe assets at your command are extensive, but not liquid, I am afraid. We exist to nurture wealth, not offer,â his features grew wry, âimmediate withdrawals.â
âGood enough,â Annadia chortled, knocking back her remaining wine, âweâve got time.â
âThe signet is key if you wish to retain our services.â Vorâmin looked between the sisters. âWho will bear it?â
âI shall,â Seraannaâs tone was unusually straightforward, brooking no dispute from her younger sibling. âIt was I that recovered... it from our fatherâs hand. And I am the... elder of us. It shall rest upon my hand.â
Annadia looked at Seraanna for a moment, then pursed her lips and gave a tight nod.
âVery well.â Vorâmin brought out a small box and placed the ring inside, handing it to Alesstus. âWeâve artisans on retainer, of course. It will be resized to your hand within the hour. But until then, ladies? I fear there are articles of transferral to complete.â He gave an indulgent smile even as Alesstus left the room. âPaper, I fear, makes its demands no matter oneâs station.â
A faint smile drew itself on Seraannaâs lips as Annadia reached for the bottle of wine on the sideboard.
Lighting the funeral pyre was the last thing they did before leaving the Ghostlands. Not to send the newly dead on their way, but to be certain the old dead wouldnât rise once more.
Seraanna watched, her quiet gaze impassive as Mary lit the bier of broken furnishings and rotted cloth with a small flash of fel green, the flames quickly turning orange-yellow as the old, dry wood caught fire. It took only a few minutes to grow into a bonfire, the desiccated corpses of what had once been the priestessâ father and half-brother bursting into flame more eagerly than the wood theyâd scavenged from the remains of the estate. The twice-dead remains of the patriarch of Morrowsun and his acknowledged heir burned, bright embers rising into the night sky.
âDid you want to say anything?â
Over the sound of crackling flame, Seraanna was uncertain who had asked the question of her. Maybe Mozelle. The woman been surprisingly considerate, despite the reputation Seraa knew she bore.
â...no.â
âThen we ought to go.â Tallissanâs tone was direct and unadorned, leaving no room for sentiment. âThis is going to attract a patrol.â
Malrek turned his head to the side and spit, then resumed chewing whatever wad of leaf that was perpetually in the warriorâs mouth. âSheâs right, we should get moving.â
Opening her clenched right hand, Seraanna glanced at the ring sheâd taken, the strangely detailed talisman sheâd come to collect from a past that had never chosen to acknowledge her or her sister.
âLet us... depart, then,â she murmured, placing the ring within a pocket and turning her back to the blazing pyre.
Their mounts were only a short distance away, loosely tied to the bridge at the estateâs edge. Mozelle was the last to be ready, applying extra care to secure the makeshift cage of raccoons sheâd rescued while the otherâs mounts chuffed impatiently. Tallissan took the lead, taking them south and expertly avoiding both Sinâdorei patrols and knots of shambling undead. It wasnât until they neared Lightâs Hope Chapel in the Eastern Plaguelands that the group split apart with vague promises to reconnect. Some, after all, were less than comfortable with such proximity to the Light.

When Seraanna finally reached her flat near Stormwind Harbor, dawn already threatened the horizon and early tradesmen were beginning to move through the city streets. It took her several moments, in her exhaustion, to remember it was the still-new silver key that opened her door - the old brass key gifted to the dead well over a month past.
Shadow twisted about her as she disrobed, pausing only briefly to splash water on her face before sliding - alone - into her bed. No matter that day was about to break, her exhaustion was a weight that pressed her into the mattress and weighed down the blankets and sheets.
Before Seraaâs eyes closed, her gaze drifted once more to the ring that now rested on her nightstand. It must have been the brightening sky, diffused through the drawn curtains of her bedroom, that lightened the gems set into its surface, she decided as sleep fell upon her.
Sleep. And dreams.
