how has NO ONE been talking about window of wonder guys. it’s literally my favourite thing i think ive ever seen in the dome
hm. reading through the ccod tag and having thoughts. going to be a bit critical but mildsauce really. just me trying to get my thoughts down, please don’t read if you think you’re going to have a problem with it
for the first thing im glad so many people liked the finale !! but there are a couple people who are Really defensive and honestly very rude about liking it. it was a joke, i know, but one person saying if you didn’t like it your opinion didn’t matter??? do you hear how you sound?? i get it, you’re really passionate about this show and that’s great! but people are allowed to have criticisms without being shut down. unless it’s just cruelty or bigotry, someone is not mean spirited or whatever for expecting a Narrative Roleplay Game Show they Pay to watch on streaming service to be a little more. i often get frustrated with criticism myself, but it’s necessary. you don’t have to read it or bother with it yourself if you don’t want to, but it’s just cruel and honestly disrespectful to devalue it
secondly, seen this said a few times but Absolutely not any particular person’s fault, and the people barraging any particular player are cruel and leveraging all their complaints onto a scapegoat. i think the issues are within the structure of the season, the show recently*, and even recently the streaming service itself. each of the comedians in there are fantastic, and while i think they should not be immune to criticism, a lot of what im hearing is not fair to say, or even correct conclusions to make, and often just blatant misogyny, exorsexism, or racism
i think people are allowed to take issue with the show, and be upset that the story in a Narrative Show (!!!! because this Is what it is) does not have a satisfactory conclusion (arguably the most important part), and ‘it’s comedy!’, to me, is not an excuse. aso, one of my favourite seasons, was more comedic as well, and yet i feel its finale and conclusion was for the most part successful!! yes, they should have fun in their own games, im actually very defensive about this, and feel very firmly that they should not be criticised for doing so — unless it actively goes against the show. but it’s no excuse to treat the story as an afterthought in a show being aired on streaming service. again, i don’t think this was any individual’s fault, i think they just struggled to get out of a Vibe. honestly, it’s just kind of disrespectful to them and their craft to call going all in on bits over story Necessary — I know they can strike a balance, we’ve seen it before!!! that being said, once again, it’s utterly Fine if you liked it. you walked in with your expectations met, others didn’t, and that’s fine. i just hope they learn to improve upon this all-chaos funk, and that this was a fluke due to a sandbox setting and a system they were unfamiliar with, but ohhhhhhh
concise part is over . next part is Especially me Just Getting My Thoughts Out ->*as i said, i loved aso, but it think might be the last Really good ih season. i didn’t finish na. and it’s Not because i don’t do well with horror, rather, the opposite: it was underwhelming as hell. i found it interesting, but as it neared the end i just couldn’t shake that something was missing, and so it never gripped me like its forebears did. it was also pretty bitty. i don’t think this was a bad thing here (not even in darker tones!! they did bits in coc fine!!), but it might’ve been where they started getting out of hand. the first bitty aps started here (and honestly were the highlight of the season to me — i go back to them super frequently, but can never get myself to actually check out the finale. i get the criticism of the bitty aps, and do agree somewhat, but i also personally love them and don’t want to lose them haha), which like it or not, began a trend which also corresponded to weaker seasons. i didn’t much like jy, in all honesty. there were parts i loved !!! i thought the introduced mechanics were fascinating, and its twisted to say but the bits saved the season for me. otherwise i would have had no interest. I’m not sure i would necessarily say that the more insane bits correlated with a weaker story and finale (though you could definitely make an argument there. brief note to say i have no interest in analysing what works and what didn’t in these seasons, im just noting something documented in my own feelings towards them. this is not proper analysis and should not be treated as such, really this part is just me expressing grievances and laying them out), but those are the things i remember about it. and i Did like ch!!!! it just Also left me feeling underwhelmed. feeling an ‘Is this it?’ even more potent than na, because i wanted to be enraptured and love it so much !!!!! i was excited what this concept could bring !!!! but the finale in particular left me a little baffled. again, i liked it, i liked the bits (you most likely won’t hear me complain about an individual bit-i always do love them-just what they Do to the show), i liked the concept, but i wasn’t in love with it, like i knew i could be — i was able to love tuc2 for fucks sake !!!. just disappointed. so im worried. it’s been years since a main season i feel i can proudly say i love. it feels like there have been two eras — the first in which they are less sure of their craft, have less resources available to them (virtually none with sy and tuc2, the latter of which i loved, and the former, while i do have a couple grievances with, was serviceable and honestly still impressive for what they were working with!!), but make better stories; and the second in which they are clearly more experienced, know their craft down to a tee, have so much more to work with, but can’t deliver as well. maybe its newfound freedom, maybe i just have more expectations of them. this is only a trend with the ih seasons, also, i actually have grown to like the smaller seasons more and more, so i think it’s Something to do with the cast and the long-season formula. sighs. what id do to see tuc2 with what ch had to work with.
i do have to say it is insane purpee has its own university. or is that just an american thing
ohhh zaeth is easily my favourite character . possibly ever
