Morph project:
22/01/19; Today, I completed the transformation of the barrel and the wick burning away.
23/01/19: Today, I animated ash appearing as the wick burns away, using ellipses and manipulating the opacity.

I included screenshots from this animation because i found the transformations highly creative and i believe this helped inspire me in my own morph project.

I recently key framed the thorns to flip horizontally from one side of the rose stem to the other, to imitate the rose rotating. This idea was inspired by a YouTube tutorial I recently watched; ‘After Effects tutorial – Fake 3D in after effects’. Today i continued work on the rotation of the thorns. I noticed that once the thorn is half way through flipping horizontally it briefly disappears because the face of the shape is no longer facing the viewer. This prevented the rotation from looking realistic. So, I added a vertical ellipse that only appears underneath the thorn, once it is half way through flipping, to imitate the base of the thorn, which would still be visible at this point in its rotation, in real life.
Morph project: 04/01/19: Today I watched and made notes on an After effects tutorial. I learnt a lot about the software and techniques I can use to make animating easier, such ‘pic wiping’ and ‘masks’ etc. The images above are of some of my notes. Throughout this session I revised the design of the rose in my own animation, shown in the third image. I later used this design in second attempt at this task, shown in the image below.

Morph project: 30/12/18: I noticed that in comparison to previous animations I have evaluated, this animation relied very little on techniques such as collapsing and reviving an object to create a transformation. This animation developed my understanding of how to manipulate shapes that are already present in the animation to create a more fluid morph.

Morph project: The transformations in this animation either take place at a central point or grow from the same point. The use of a central point for transformations results in a well balanced composition. The animation recurrently uses the technique of animating the subject collapsing in on itself and resurrecting already transformed into another subject. The animation uses a small variety of colours, watching and evaluating this animation gave me a better understanding of how to portray my transformation using minimal colours.

Morph project: 07/12/18: I included images of this animation because I was really inspired by how the artist morphed the image using shapes already existing on the screen. I also really liked the art style.
