Is it just me or did she sound like she had been longing for your companionship at the end of that line there. Like she was desperate for an actual companion, someone who she could SHARE her goals with, that weren't just using her for their own agenda. Perhaps someone she could take under her wing so she can show Ambrose that she was right, that he was wrong to keep her from shadow magic.

This raises the question of what Morganthe would even be like as a mentor. I'm assuming the wizard is still pretty young at this point maybe mid to late teens, there's no way she's treating them like and equal. I think she'd end up being a selfish mentor but painfully aware every time she messes up and pushes the wizard away. It would remind her of moments between her and Merle and while she doesn't want to admit it makes her realize why he did what he did. That realization may make her have a change of heart or it could make her worse. Would this lead to the wizard having to kill her still or could that be avoided?
