Do not stress about looking for messages of people shipping to Clara and the Doctor. They do not understand the reality, or want to live a different reality to ours. We have something very valuable that they refuse to see and accept. Our otp is married, not a high school romance, they are mature in their relationship, and also our otp is canon. Ignore people blind does not believe in it, ceases to follow people who do not value us, just because we have the truth and they do not. Hugs to you.
Well...I don't think it's about "truth" - because that's not what shipping is about - too me it's more - we've got two ships - one is canon, the other is very much subtext, and I think they're equally shipped by some part of the fandom, and equally disliked by some other part of the fandom. What bugs me the most are those shippers who blatantly ignores canon - and makes their own assumption - for example those who seemed to assume that the Doctor didn't take his marriage with River seriously, and would somehow jump to Clara at the first opportunity - I've seen a lot of people say that "ah, it's alright, they didn't even get married" etc. Thinking they're cute with handholding and hugging - that's perfectly fine, wanting them to fall in love each other eventually - perfectly fine - but it's ridiculous and obnoxious of them TO DEMAND that they're gonna kiss, or get to together - because story-wise that would have been one of the worst things Moffat could have done - it would have reduced the relationship he has been developing since series 4.
there's a part of me that wishes that River at least could have gotten some of the same respect Rose got when she left - because when martha came after Rose NO one made a huge shipping base with a shipping name like the fandom has made with eleven/clara. Obviously I didn't want Clara to get the same treatment martha got - but I sorta wish that fandom understood and respected that most likely - Clara and eleven wouldn't be thing seeing as he was with River -and that it in fact very rare for a character to have two love interests at the same time.
