“This is my family, my wife - we’re talking about, Rhaenys.” He didn’t hesitate dropping the formalities. 

“I don’t like this.” Dark hissed under his breath, pacing back and forth, one hand on his hip the other to nurse his hideous headache. “I can’t just that do that to my wife. She can read me like an open book -- and even if I lie, she’ll find out and that’ll be ten times worse, me daring to even lie to her face.” He can already picture the worst case scenario, and he couldn’t bear it. Not Akira. 

Perhaps cute wasn’t the best qualification for a crib, but he’d forgotten to go over the information Emilia had printed out for him about baby supplies. He had a lot on his plate, and he knew his girlfriend had already picked out exactly which furniture she wanted for the baby’s room. Nick was only here to provide moral support. And perhaps act as a punching bag if she got too frustrated.

“Or maybe that one,” he mused, pointing to a more lavish looking crib, something worthy of the daughter of a Lord.

While Lourde’s mother might not have been one of his patients, Jeremy had started taking a particular interest in her, always making sure she was receiving the best care. Seeing Lourdes’ face in the waiting room or beside her mother’s bed, eyes always wide with worry that she tried to hide, he would hate to see her worst fears come true. Too busy with patients to check in on Mrs. Valdez for most of the day, Jeremy went straight for the girl when he saw her by herself in the waiting room. “How’s she doing?” he asked, giving her a sympathetic look, falling into the chair beside her. He had charts waiting for him, but those could wait for the moment.
