“Do you?” Hadley asks curiously, eyes flickering down to her best friend’s belly. “Natural as in no medical intervention at all or with an epidural? Because speaking as someone who’s pushed out eight babies with no epidural, it’s tough. Extremely worth it but really tough.” Last thing Hadley would want any mama to think is there was one way she had to give birth.
“What’s Stephen think of that idea? I’m sure he’ll faint if you tell him you want to have that baby outside of a hospital.” She rolled her lips. “I’m happy to answer any of your questions, sweetheart,” Hadley said finally. She probably should’ve led with that. “Did I inspire you in that area?”
Continuing walking around this rather spooky house, Hadley’s hand absently slipped into Clea’s. “You think your baby has magic too? Whatever is in here seems to be particularly attracted to you. Might be one of those magic vampire things.”
Her free hand drops to the slight curve beneath her robes. “I’ve been considering a WATER birth, if I’m being perfectly honest. I do feel at peace surrounded by water and nature. It’s just something I’m considering.” Clea sighed softly, crinkling her nose as they walked.
At her friend’s next question, Clea lets out a soft huff of laughter. “I haven’t brought it up yet, but considering the fact that we have a telepathic bond, he probably already knows. It would explain the GRUMPINESS...but it’s my body and my choice,” she remarks a little stubbornly. “But yes, you may have had some influence in my decision making...that and I have no idea what my PAIN tolerance is. The last thing I need is for my head to burst into flames in front of a room full of doctors.”
She squeezes Hadley’s hand and gives her a small smile. “As long as she’s healthy...I don’t care. But I would say it’s a fair shot. I’m the only HYBRID of my kind.” It occurs to her that that wouldn’t be true for very much longer. “She’ll be a quarter FALTINE.”
A pause and she snorts out a laugh. “Are you suggesting I’m going to birth DRACULA?”
