I've been busy. Made two pairs of cuffs, refurbished/finished another pair belonging to a friend. Do I have a use for these things, do I think my gear is ever actually going to be used again? Not really. But it's another coping mechanism.
There is a part of me I've been trying to coax back out though, not for anyone else per se, but just for uncompartmentalizing parts of myself again. I came across a blacksmith in Georgia, she started smithing to help cope with her PTSD. I reached out and asked if she would take a commission, forge a couple special things for me; I felt like she'd get it.
It probably seems dumb or silly to everyone else, but the spurs are important to me. I don't really have words why, or.. maybe I just don't want to try and explain why. They just are. They mean something.
Anyway, they're sharp enough for actual fighting, and I was extremely particular and made the cuffs to be able to endure that sort of wear and tear. The spurs also removable, and reversible, if I'd like to flip them so the curve is downwards, if I'm feeling more.. dromaeosaur. They feel natural, they feel.. right. I can't wait until it's cool enough for pants again so I can just have them go unnoticed, in case I need to kick someone's ass.
