( SEND ‘let me see’ TO CONFRONT MY MUSE TRYING TO HIDE AN INJURY )
At first , it almost appeared as if Jackal wasn’t around. His usual spots were vacant and everything was stiflingly quiet in a way things never were if Jackal was around. But a glance out back revealed the demon laying on the ground in his etherious form with eyes squeezed shut. His breath came in labored pants as Jackal tried to ignore the pain.
The first footstep on grass nearby had Jackal letting out an aggressive snarl , eyes snapping open as he lifted his head to look towards the source. In pain or not , Jackal was never one to back down in confrontation. Whatever injury he bore did not taper his volatile and fierce temperament. If anything it contributed to his heightened aggression and hostility that was now on display. His fur bristled , already making the extremely large demon seem even taller. Dilated pupils focused on Seilah , lips pulled back to showcase a muzzle of fangs as his growling got louder in warning. If he even recognized her in the state of pain was questionable.
At least till she told him to essentially shut up.
Surprise if nothing else caused the demon’s snarls to cease , an indignant huff leaving him. Jackal let his lip cover his teeth again , laying his head back down with a glare. “ I’m fine. “ He could already hear her listing all the reasons that proved otherwise , even without her actually saying anything. He stubbornly stared at a tree , tail thumping against the ground before a sudden snarl covered the whine of pain as more pain darted through him.
“...” A glance snuck at her had the expression he was expecting to see. “... Fine. Stop making that face. And I won anyway so it’ll be fine. “ He looked away from her before slowly pushing his form off of the ground to show the injury that he’d been hiding. A good part of that side was coated in blood and wounds , golden fur turned crimson. Some of it had dried and some was still wet , though the ground he’d been laying on looked like someone had dumped paint over the grass and base of the trees with the amount of blood. Clearly Jackal had been simply laying here bleeding for a significant amount of time.
Healing wasn’t a skill he was good at. In fact , it wasn’t a skill he possessed at all. While his recovery time for injuries or stamina was the quickest of the demons , he simply had no knowledge on how to actually treat wounds. Not even the slightest idea. Jackal slid down too lay on a new patch of grass , but left his wounded side exposed to let Seilah be able to look at it , though he refused to look at her now. Jackal rarely bore injuries besides some bruises or scrapes , so this damage spoke of something serious to be able to cause it.
Muscles tensed as he heard Seilah get closer. No one besides Mard Geer had ever been able to touch this particular form , and he was well aware as her hand reached out to touch an area of golden fur not stained with blood. But after a moment he started to relax , though refusing to look at her still. At least he’d been considerate in not going inside the cottage while bleeding so much. ( Or perhaps it was foolish but Jackal had thought it rather considerate even if it left him in the open , albeit under the trees. )
