(sugar baby/daddy au thing? any muse you want?) "Oh! Sorry, wasn't looking where I was going, oh shit. Got it all over your suit! Um, I've got some towels in the back??" Desmond mentally flailed, panicking over the idea of having to pay for repairing the no doubt expensive suit, with his place already behind on 3 months of rent.
In all reality, Owen was only here because his wife -- once the love of his life, now faded to the proverbial thorn in his side -- had dragged him here. She wanted to mingle, to be seen flaunting their wealth in her newly-acquired jewels and attire and his stately new car. All Owen wanted was to get back home and go back to avoiding her at all costs. The arrangement had been mutually beneficial, he'd put a baby in her every once in a while and she'd get to bask in the wealth he'd acquired without asking how he came by it. But she was the literal antithesis of a good mother, and thankfully their little ones were whisked away to the Fae court to serve as proper changelings anyway.
He jumped when he felt someone collide with him, and looked down to see his white suit jacket smeared with that unicorn frosting that had been so damn popular lately. At first he was annoyed, but the lad's sputtering apologies actually brought a smile to his face, and he dredged a finger through the frosting and brought it to his lips.
"And here I was looking for an excuse to leave," he replied, following Desmond as he headed for the kitchens to get towels to clean him up. Kid was cute, in a panicky sort of way. Cute in a way Owen always liked, that touch of innocence still clinging to him.
