[Drama] BRAIN
[!!!] Another must-watch Korean drama!
Well, I guess you figured it out already, Brain is a medical drama. Specifically, about neurosurgery (that's why it's titled brain). It has the HOUSE and GREY'S ANATOMY feel. It gives bits and pieces about neurosurgery and I think, this drama also highlighted that Korea is becoming one of the leading countries with regards to this field. It has 20 episodes; at least an hour each.
The gist: The story revolves about Dr. Lee Gang Hoon, an arrogant, mean, and very unlikable person but is one of the best doctors in the field of neurosurgery. He pushed himself to become a neurosurgeon to take avenge of the neurosurgeon who caused the death of his father due to medical malpractice.
This story line is not too complicated for me. As the story progresses, I find it easy to guess what's what and who's who but what I really liked about it was that, at some point, it would make you doubt a little bit. That is why, you'd keep on anticipating as to what's going to happen next. Of course, there were also some instances that things happened unexpectedly which can leave the viewers off guard and say, "REALLY?" *Laughs.*
It's really dramatic. The cast, if I may compare them to a hotel, are five-star! They are really doing what they're supposed to do. The lead actor, Shin Ha-Kyun, really raised the bar. Seriously, I must re-iterate that he's really awesome. Being the lead, he's surely worthy to be the face of the drama.
Another plus factor for me was the development of the love line between Dr. Lee Gang Hoon and Dr. Yun Ji-Hye. The love line didn't mask the main story line. It happened with subtlety and was just emphasized when the main conflict was over. If I remember it correctly, the love line was clearly introduced at episode 6 and then on, the love line is slowly developing until it went full blast, on episode 19 to end.
Personally, I was really looking forward for the development of their love line. I do not know as to when their scenes would be shown so probably, that's one of the reasons I keep anticipating as to what's going to happen next. I'm really praising the scriptwriter because he/she did very well in drawing the line as to what's supposed to happen and what's not. I also congratulate them for keeping the viewers off our feet, in full anticipation and excitement.
Brain has given me the similar feeling of anticipation just like when I'm watching Moon that Embraces the Sun. Both are very comparable to me, if the quality of the drama, as a whole, is to be considered.
Miss MOON-SUN already..and I just finished it today! :(
