It’s a molten Sydney affair as IHM praised producer and crooner Billy Fox lends lyrical skills and his deep soulful voice to production newcomer Moohki’s first single, Foul Play. Rich choppy layers of dark electronica and gritty R&B seethe and simmer on the arresting tune, a track which was produced on a plane. She explains: “With sleep deprivation and that sense of dislocation from anything rational, I started butchering some of my piano chords.” It’s obvious from this dazzling debut that Moohki is a producer to watch. I feel displaced from myself while lost in her intricate handiwork. Foul Play is mesmeric and haunting, sensual and tactile. The single is our first preview of Moohki’s EP, Lost & Found, arriving on February 24th.
