I'm always excited to delve into a new house, and I'm very thankful to Chris for sending me his line to sample. Monto'ac is described as... From the Croatoan dialect of the Carolina Algonquians meaning, "Great Spirit", monto'ac is an inspiring fragrance of coastal hillside and forest floor accords. From the note list and description, I knew this one was going to be right up my street. In the opening I got a huge green hit, not fresh, more an earthy and rugged green. Sage gives a herbal quality at the top, whilst the green grape is fleshy, adding a touch of sweetness. As the scent dries down, the true stars of the show emerge. The oakmoss is incredibly smooth, unlike the spiky oakmoss notes I encounter so regularly, it truly is delightful. Pairing perfectly with the oakmoss, is the green tobacco leaves. Once again offering an earthy green quality, with a touch of bitterness to my nose. As the fragrance dries down further, a leather note that resembles an old leather bound book emerges, combined with a delicate musk note. In terms of performance, i got projection of 2-3 hours and longevity of 8-10 hours. Whilst not a projection monster on my skin, it created a lovely cloud around me for the entire wearing. Occasionally I come across a fragrance with a note list that looks like it was custom made for me, and Monto'ac was just that. Whilst I would of loved a little better projection on my skin, I absolutely loved the scent!
