Generic Intro Post
Well...I’m back by popular demand! That was a lie, no one has asked me to write anything in about 5 years. It was something I did regularly and really enjoyed doing. But time became the enemy and I needed to put it aside. Last night someone inspired me without knowing, and I decided to give it another go.
Before I begin, there are some rules that I will ask any reader respect - This is a personal blog, it is in no way connected to the club which I work for, the organizations which I collaborate with or any other aspect of my personal life which I don’t discuss publically. I do not want to get into debates over the work in which I do through this platform. If you need to discuss work-related issues, please email me.
Now, this is exciting stuff. I would like this to be a forum to exchange, hopefully learn and maybe...just maybe help provoke some sort of change, be it within my profession or in any other impactful profession out there.
For those who know me, welcome, I know you know this will be fun.
For those who do not, My name is Marco Masucci. I am an economist by degree, a financial advisor by certification, but I am a soccer coach by trade. Next year will mark my 20th year coaching my favorite sport and I have a ton of stories to tell. I have been incredibly privileged to have been mentored by some great personalities of the sport. And because of them, I caught some breaks and I work full-time in soccer. Some of my finest and fanciest titles include:
Being a Head Coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University, a division 1 NCAA institution.
Head Coach of the New Jersey State Olympic Development Program
Working with Carolina Morace and the Canadian National Women’s Team
And last but certainly not least, my current post, which is Technical Director or Monteuil Soccer Club, as well as the Sporting Director of our Monteuil professional teams
I think over the past 20 years I have made tons of mistakes, some very good decisions but most important of all, helped some people grow as players and as people. Whether it’s a player looking for a scholarship, a young coach looking for a mentor or just a young player in my club needing to talk about everything but soccer, these are the ones I remember most. Well that and us almost getting kicked out of Nova Scotia after winning a National Championship and filling the trophy with Champagne! But that is a story for another time.
I’ll check in soon.
