The Paragon Quirks!:
A little handful of quirks the Paragons have that were derived from... Monstrum, surprisingly!
Tiamat Tempestuous Mauvais:
• Tiamat has the weird habit of doing a toe walk or walking on the balls of her feet with her heels off the ground, instead of walking flatly like the other Paragons, not even the Apexes have this quirk, it's more evident when she doesn't wear her heels boots. Tiamat never specifies on why she does this, the Apexes think it's a play on her being the third by far tallest amongst them, after Affright & Monstrum. Again, she never says why, leaving this habit ambiguous.
-Annotation: Tiamat was confirmed to always walk on the balls of her feet, it seemed to always been in her nature since her manifestation!
• Tiamat makes small chittering and giggling vocal stims whenever she finds something that amuses her!
-Annotation: Monstrum has already described and viewed this behavior to a cat's chittering whenever it was excited. Now that she realizes, her Paragons have feline behaviors, even though it was never intentionally influenced. It just spontaneously happened when they all manifested.
• Tiamat has the most utilization over her warped voice and the collection of voices she has in her arsenal, sometimes she enables a more masculine voice then other times she enables a more feminine voice, and so on. It can just happen without particular reason!
• Tiamat surprisingly enjoys jokes! Sure, a big 99% of them are dark humor and with grotesque punch lines. She has a passion of annoying her brethren & the Apexes of stupid jokes about random things during random moments.
-Annotation: This is why she was named, "The Biggest Ragebaiter."
Kaimetsu Muttsu-me Tatarigami Maudit:
• Kaimetsu has a weird infatuation over thermal heat sources, you may find him basically basking underneath a quite hot heat source of light, or hovering around something that produces heat! Like a cat seeking warmth..
-Annotation: Monstrum has observed Kaimetsu always lurking around the most hottest stars within the Null, even being a close bystander to repeatedly exploding supernovae, since they radiate off the most immense heat energy inside the Null!
• Kaimetsu enjoys lounging a lot, give him a comfortable mat or chair, he automatically finds a comfortable position for himself and sits there without moving. Or, he'll adjust himself of course. Especially in a chair that isn't much fit for his stature.
• Kaimetsu clearly has the most profound temperament & violent excursions. An echo from how Monstrum's true temper is..
• Kaimetsu will never admit it, but he very much enjoys oversized attire, especially long sleeves. Not only that he worn female kimonos & large haori to accommodate his four arms, but he actually also wears them because she finds comfortablility in them!
Affright Armageddon Mullistus:
• Affright has the most vivid & abstract imagination from the Paragons, he influences certain torture methods for them. Being the main guy to ask for any traumatizing events for both Kaimetsu & Tiamat to use and induce into others!
• He's dramatic & theatric! Clearly, from how he presents himself and displays his variety of shows! He always loves putting on a show for others.
• As much as he creates and has the most complex in imagination, he has the shortest memory. Due to his vastness of minds and perception, some minds and perspectives get lost in the sea of it. Much like his own creator, so he organizes them through the Chimerical Segments which are all separate minds that host distinct genres within them! An entire labyrinth of his ever so changing mind.
• Affright oftens twists his body, contorting it to unsettling measures, with the audio asset of bones being popped. He also is known to crack his "knuckles" & neck quite often!
• Affright has the third largest assortment of attire, just right behind both Tiamat & Monstrum herself! Due to his multiple theatrical roles inside his Chimerical Segments, he dresses evidently distinct to what segment he is currently in.
Shared Quirks!:
•All the Paragons (+Apexes) all cross any leg over the other whenever they sit, as well as crossing their arms, putting their hands or a hand on their hips whenever standing/leaning against a wall, and usually put the side of their face on a perched hand when sitting!
•The Paragons have a staring problem. It's a true staring problem...

@pscentral ▪️ event 44 ▪️ cultural representation ↳ MONSTRUM by PBS "...Myths and folklore offer a great opportunity to learn what whe have thought about ourselves in the past and explore the possibilities of who we can be in the future [...] Studying monsters isn't about what you think you know because of something you've seen or read, but investigating what that creature means to the culture in which it was created. o' tired traveler listen, please, to this tale of woe...
Compendium I is the first chapter of a volume dedicated to stories of the decline. This gilt-golden age of magic and doctrine, empire and war is dying. These things were preordained in premonition long ago and recorded thusly.
Created for the Neo-Twiny Jam (2025), with the stipulation that the game be shorter than 500 words in length, Compendium I is precisely 500 words in length, excluding code.
No generative AI was used in this project or will ever be used in any of my projects. All art and writing was created by a human, by hand. Do not use code from or re-upload this work without permission. Do not distribute, repost, or use this work for the purpose of training generative AI or any other AI training.

Monstrum au: Is it weird that I want to know more about the random dude with the contagious quirk that causes you to become allergic to pineapples?
Probably not but tbh I really did not think much about him beyond "Hey wouldn't it be funny if someone accidentally made a bunch of people allergic to pineapples." That's his legacy now. He'll go down in history for the Pineapple Incident. Around the world people will buy pineapples and be jokingly asked if they were near Pineapple Guy. There's a page about the Pineapple Incident on the MHA!WIkipedia equivalent.
A Wild Samhain Was Spotted on Monstrum
Greetings, Dan here!
Color me surprised to be watching the latest episode of Monstrum from Storied on Youtube about the Mascot Horror genre and Samhain's Title card pops up as the example of TTRPGs in the genre. I kid you not, I jumped in surprise to see the brief shout out. Monstrum is such a great show from a great team, I'm honored our little project could be featured even in a small way. If you haven't seen Monstrum before, its a great source for the lore, history, and psychology around many different monsters and horror settings. Be sure to check it out. It's a great video, and I wish it had been around when I was doing research for Samhain's Playhouse:
How Mascot Horror Took Over The Internet
Anyway, just wanted to say thank you to the Monstrum Team. I had no idea Samhain would appear, but we are very grateful at Cloudshore Games for the shout out. In the meantime, the game is still going through playtesting and refinement. We already have some ideas for expansions for the full version.
Be sure to check back for updates, or to leave your ideas or feedback!
