The price of war
Orc x witch fem!reader || tooth-rooting fluff, hurt/comfort
You hated it.
You hated every single second of it.
You hated that you were forced to use your magic against them, that you had to watch them frozen in place and be slaughtered by your actions because of your power⦠And because an ungrateful king that couldnāt even wipe his ass clean if he tried. He asked and asked, threatening your family when you didnāt give up on his inquiries about your powers, and you had to.
You had to play your part in the war if you didnāt want your family to hurt, if you didnāt want all of them dead. But at the end of the day, you were the one losing either way. You could kill your family, or you could kill dozens of innocent orcs that were fighting a war they didnāt ask to fight. All because of your kingās incompetence, and their kingās ego.
You hated it.
You thought about running away, it felt like a good idea after the king made you watch how they carried unsuspecting frozen orcs to the camp they built just for this, to make the killing easier⦠He made you stand there as the human soldiers rejoiced in the slaughter of others.
Until you couldnāt hold it anymore.
Until you couldnāt help yourself as you turned around and faced the man whose fault all this was, the man-baby whose hunger for power killed thousands of humans and monsters⦠And you froze him.
The second his face contorted into one of pain and anger, you knew you did the right thing, all his soldiers staring at you in fear and shock, probably too scared to say anything. You dismissed them all, bloodstained and pathetic as they ran for their lives out of the slaughtering camp.
Most of the orcs there were already dead, their bodies thrown into a pile that you knew would be burned later. They were all dead because of you⦠But when you walked to them, you saw there was one who the soldiers hadnāt gotten to.
One of them was still frozen in place, his face contorted in fear and still as an ice cube. You approached him slowly, your body sluggish as you stepped over dried blood and substances you didnāt even want to know what they were.
You stood over his frozen body and stared at him, his clothes stained with his friends and brotherās blood, because of you⦠You couldnāt hold back the tears even if you wanted to. You couldnāt hold back your sobs even if you wanted to.
Right there, between the consequences of war and the greed of men, you fell to your knees and cradled an orcās head to your chest, tracing his green features with utmost respect and adoration. He felt like the last ray of hope you could cling to, and with a tiny smile, you decided youād made good by him, youād make good for everyone who participated willingly in this war.
It took days for him to regain his full body, days in which you nursed him back to normality little by little. At first he was scared of you, but he slowly warmed to you. Which only opened the floodgates of his affection for you. He was insatiable from that point on, his hands always on you one way or another, his body pressed close and his touch starved emotions hugging your very soul.
And it took you months, but you stopped the war and imprisoned everyone who participated in it willingly; the men and orcs involved were locked away as your new realm flourished with a new treaty. After freezing the orcās king, the orc queen was more than happy to negotiate away from the egoistical men.
You didnāt know if youād be a good queen, but it wasnāt hard to be better than those who preceded you. But when you got back to your tiny cottage, after declining living in the castle, your orc husband was already preparing tea for you, offering you a cup as he pulled you to his lap and sniffed the uncertainty away.
