Historically, many monks in China made tea, known as Chan Cha, to share with visitors as a gesture of compassion and to create karmic connections. At Tea Drunk, we carry red teas made by our monk friend Fa Yu Fa Shi. He discovered some old abandoned tea trees a few years ago in the back of South Shaolin Temple and started making red tea with these Wu Long varietals. We've been offering his tea on a donation basis for the past three years to support his work, and to embrace an old tradition in temples where the more abled patrons contribute a little more so the less abled can also share the joy of tea. #monkstea #shaolin #teaspirit (at Tea Drunk)
