I'm quoting the RiffTrax riffs to myself as I watch it. I know the fanbase loves Manos but it's really a dull episode riff-wise.

I’ve watched other riff projects and you’re right, they’re just missing something. But for MST3K to be MST3K it has to be more than just the movie - though that is the best part.

See, and I agree with that. While I wasn’t initially drawn to the host segments, they did become important to me as I watched more of the show. For me, they became important because they added another slant of humor, but also touches of characterization. 

I think this becomes important in the theater segments as well. Because after seeing these characters do their thing outside the theater, I started to equate certain characters with certain kinds of riffs. Thus, I’d be watching and in my mind I’d be thinking “yep, that’s totally a Crow riff.”

This is another facet of why the show was indeed more than just riffing the movie....because the riffs were not always completely interchangeable. This is something that I think carries over into Rifftrax with Mike, Kevin and Bill or with Mary Jo and Bridget. Certain jokes seem to “fit” certain riffers more. 

Plus, in both cases, there is this great chemistry between the riffers. Whether you’re talking about the chemistry between a guy and his robots on MST3K or between the guys or girls with Rifftrax, there is how they play off each other as much as the actual jokes that are made.

I think that’s what I feel like is missing from other riffing projects I have seen. It’s the personality of the writers/comedians and the personality of the characters they created for MST3K. I think that will be at the core of what could disappoint me with the reboot: if they don’t continue giving each of them their own identities both in and out of the theater. 

I have eczema. There are so many different causes - including none at all, it just happens - that I can’t really give you much advice other than what helps control mine. I take magnesium supplements because low levels of magnesium are related to increased histamine production which increases redness, irritation, and itchiness. I stay away from anti-bacterial anything and use all-natural, handmade soaps that use only vegetable oils.

I'm twenty-eight years into being an adult officially and it still hasn't sunk in yet.

I need to rewatch The Oblongs and Mission Hill. It’s been years.

Oh, finally someone else who finds them horrifically painful. Even with a tranquilizer and ibuprofen I hurt for a few days.

I follow you b/c I like what you post. It doesn't matter if you don't pay any attention to me or even if you don't like me or if sometimes you say things I don't agree with or don't like. I'll still read and look and reply the rare times I think I have something worth saying, b/c you add a little more value to my life than I had before I started to follow you. So thanks!
