Medell sighed as she looked at the cross armed puff ball standing before her that shares her last name. Even after crouching down to be closer to her height Molova will still have to look up but at least her neck won’t hurt as much afterwards.

“No one here cares about you anymore. Go home.”

“Such cruel words from such a small creature.....”

Her descendants hands ball into fists before one makes contact with her face; she felt nothing as she had expected as much from someone of her own blood. She lets out a sigh before reaching out and grabbing Molova by the shoulder, pulling her into a death grip like hug.

No matter how much the smaller Celoos struggled she wouldn’t be able to escape her ancestors grip. She knew Medell wasn’t acting in her right mind as she never has, and in her mind never will, care about her.

“Stop fighting; just let me hold my child.”

“Are you done yet. I’ve things I need to do.

“Ah…. Yes. I am.”

Medell stands with a sigh, staring down at the small child in front of her; well, small compared to her 9 foot self. She reaches out to touch her descendant again but winces when her wrist is gripped tightly and squeezed.

“Your old bones are brittle if this is harming you. Just go home. Your ‘friends’ died a long time ago. There’s nothing for you here, old bat.”

“And yet you stand before me little one. How is your firefly?”

Molova’s eyes went wide and before either could blink she was strangling her ancestor on the ground, her hands barely able to reach around her large neck.

“YOU LEAVE HIKARI OUT OF THIS! SHE’S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!”

“You may be right but if you can’t control your temper speaking of her she’s going to be found.”

“AND WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW OF THAT?! ARE YOU GOING TO TELL SOMEONE ABOUT HER?!”

“What advantage would that give me? I don’t care for her life, as sweet of a child she is. She doesn’t deserve this life. She’s been through enough.”

“AND I DO?!”

“You only stay out of a sense of obligation, as I did until you hatched. You have no joy here except the pain you can bring others.”

“You would know…. You have nothing else in your life but the suffering of others.

“'Nothing else in my life’….? I suppose you are correct. There is not much for me anymore.”

“….Don’t give me that look. You abandoned me. I had nothing and now all I have is my firefly.”

Medell lifts an eyebrow, changing her sad expression to one of curiosity.

“Your firefly? Have you taken her as your own now?”

“Your wording has a lot to be desired. I have not ‘taken’ her. She came of her own free will….. She stays of her own volition….”

Medell grasps her child by the back of her shirt, setting her off to the side so she can sit up and look down at Molova.

“Is that the case or are you keeping her here with pretty things and nice words, princess?”

“I- What– No! I’m not going to keep anyone here against their will! What the hell are you suggesting?!”

Her hands clenched into fists, staring indignantly up at her ancestor, her teeth gritting with a horrendous noise as her eyes turn red. She’s thought at times perhaps she’s keeping Hikari there, but also reminds herself frequently that Hikari comes and goes as she likes from the court.

The thoughts running through Molova’s mind drive her to tears; she tightly grips her pants and looks down, her shoulders beginning to shake as tears fall onto her hands.

Reaching a hand out Medell gently sweeps the small Ceelos into her lap with a yelp from her in objection; resting a hand on the back of her head and one on her back. It hurts her at this point seeing the small woman like this. She knows she’s done this. It’s her fault that Molova was forced into this role.
