E just texted me that we need to keep Molly on a few more weeks of “crate rest” which means she’s penned up and fucking miserable. No playing, no walks (although they said she can walk to/from the elevator to go potty vs E carrying her every day), no being free-range in our apartment. We have been letting her sleep in her regular bed at night but once she’s awake we have to contain her and I can tell she is so confused, like she’s being punished.

The State of Family Dog Affairs
LARRY!: He’s such a good boy! He gets jealous of Molly when she’s getting attention from my parents but isn’t aggressive. When my parents boarded him and Louie, their 12 year old terrier, he topped eating out of stress. He thought he had been abandoned again! My parents authorized him to be with Louie and he immediately calmed down. Louie knows the drill: it’s vacation, man! Relax.
Tucker: OMG I love him. He and my brother are in love and he’s a snuggle bug. He’s still skittish around other dogs so we will introduce him to Molly when he’s more secure. He has bat ears and big feet and sweet eyes. We’re all obsessed.
Molly Grace: Our sweet 13 year old angel is doing great but losing her hearing. She gets high tones and clicks and we’ve started pantomiming and signing to her like idiots 😂 We hug her and love on her so she doesn’t feel left out but of course we’re worried. She’s still playful and eating and drinking water so I know she’s OK but ugh. We don’t deserve dogs.
tl;dr: Molly and LARRY! get along and are pals!
LARRY! was SO excited by an energetic dog coming over that he wouldn’t leave Molly alone at first. I think also the jingle of her collar made him think she had a toy? Anyway, he was a little too in her face, she’s got a lot of energy but is also almost 13 and was kind of freaked out initially. After a few hours together they both chilled out and did their own thing and harmony was restored.
This morning as we were leaving I heard E say to Molly, “I’m sorry you have to stay home alone today after your playdate with LARRY! He’s my new brother-in-law!”
