Communication Design Studies - Week 3
Above are some example of gig posters by the incredible Molly Dyson ! This was an artist we touched on during our week three tutorial class with Ben. Molly Dyson is a Melbourne born artist who now operates from Berlin. She has described her illustrations and style as “Nostalgic and futuristic” at the same time. And this ring true in the examples above. Would drew me in-particular to Molly’s work was not only her line of work being mostly promoting performances but also the element of creative exclusivity she holds in her work. The fact that her work isn’t extremely literal and simplistic, I believe actually further draws you into her work to seek further details of the said event. This is especially prevalent with musicians and underground clubs. As a working musician myself having spent 4 years studying previously at an art university I hope this is too where I can take my work. No one design of Molly Dyson’s is the same, she serves as a huge inspiration to me and I hope one day to attempt to follow in her foot steps.
