TTGD's Last Meme, An Explanation
Hello! This is yet another behind-the-scenes ripping post. This one covers a series of rips I made on TimmyTurnersGrandDad involving the song "prince of egypt" by mofe., otherwise known as the "What You Want" emote in Fortnite.
This story starts in 2023, with the rip "Play a Mini-Game! (Mixie) - Mario Party", except that wasn't its name when I originally submitted it. Originally, it was "Play a Mini-Game! (Monika) - Mario Party". The subtitle here was meant to be a play on "Okay, Everyone! (Monika)" from DDLC and the fact that Monika and Moxie are (barely) similar names. But in any case, the subtitle was rejected and changed to the current name (imo it's bad and gives away the joke).
Now this incident didn't lead to anything at first, however, flash forward to 2025, and another ripper, Sashobon, submitted a rip entitled "Play a Mini-Game! (Natsuki) - Mario Party", and that was actually accepted. Wow. However, another of Sasha's recent rips at that moment actually did have a rejected title: "In the Room (song002) - Mega Man Battle Network", originally submitted as "song002 - Mega Man Battle Network". The joke of this rip was "prince of egypt", with a gif of the Fortnite emote added. So, seeing as Sasha stole my DDLC name joke, I stole her joke from "In the Room (song002) - Mega Man Battle Network", including the visual, put it into "Play a Mini-Game!", and that is how I finally got "Play a Mini-Game! (Monika) - Mario Party" onto the channel, 2 years later.
Now there are a couple reasons why I ran this joke into the ground afterwards. First, it's an easily exploitable, simple, catchy song. Second, I really thought that rip was hilarious from its visual randomly switching thumbnail. With that naturally evolving to the usage of any old thumbnails over time, it kind of became a way to drag some of TTGD's history to the end in a weird way I guess. Third, I also pushed this meme because of the hiatus. Basically, for personal reasons, dedicating the majority of my final TTGD rips to spamming all these disposable rips was the only way I was going to get more TTGD rips in, that's all I'll say.
At least by the end it even got used by some other people, and it got played on a kazoo at MAGFest, I guess that counts as a successful meme, right?
