I photographed Kim Barnes and her 1969 Plymouth #Barracuda #ModTop for @wsjphotos a few weeks ago. SUCH A COOL CAR!!! In the late 1960s Chrysler marketed “Mod Top” cars to working women. The advertisement read: "The car you can wear!" The Mod Top has flowers all over the roof, and sometimes a matching interior — although, Kim said this was somewhat rarer. Chrysler eventually partnered with a shower curtain company to make the flower covered vinyl roofs that wouldn't fade in the sun. As a 7 year old, Kim Barnes loved cars and she rode her bike to a Chrysler dealership because she loved this flowery Mod Top. As an adult she now only owns the 1969 Plymouth Barracuda Mod Top, she owns Corvettes, a Citroën 2CV, an Austin-Healy, and a few other muscle cars. She's also the event coordinator for the Monticello Motor Club Concours d'Elegance, — a car show for millionaires and billionaires. . . . . . #MyRideWSJ, #69modtop, #69barracudemodtop, #69hemicuda, #modtopmopar #musclecar #ladymusclecar #yellowcar #classiccar #carphotography #onassignment #editorialphotography #editorial #cars #americanclassiccars #americanclassic (at Pylesville, Maryland)
