We Women Book Club: Introducing #FightSongFriday
Mod Julie’s pick: “Hand in My Pocket” by Alanis Morissette
They say music and songs can mentally transport you back in time to where you heard them before. For me, this song is in of THOSE songs.
When I married my first husband at age 23 in 1995 and we moved (for a short time) from Tennessee to Arizona, I was terrified. I had never lived beyond a twenty mile radius of my home town and it was one of the few times in my life I have experienced what I now know are panic attacks.
During this time, I had to learn to suck it up and this song became my anthem. I realized my journey as an adult had begun and it was going to have its rough spots. But no matter what comes, I had no choice but to be just fine.
