I'm won't deny that lots of the literature you read in school is written by men (though in part that's b/c you're supposed to read a lot of classics, and, save for the past 200 or so years, most were written by men); but you also read plenty of female-authored lit! A lot of kids I knew also read lots of children's lit/YA that was written by and about women, too (Nancy Drew, Royal Diaries, and what-have-you). Point being, there are a TON of popular, successful female writers in Western society!

personally i probably have some sort of anxiety issue. it wont be diagnosed simply for the fact that the idea of going to a psychologist makes me lock up, nauseous, and panicky. Sometimes even feelings that im going to die if i do go to a professional. But even then i would never self diagnose because frankly i dont know. but to generalize that people on tumblr say they have anxiety to validate themselves is bullshit. it makes sense that alot of people with thinks like social anxiety would 1/2

I feel like the Western world needs a short story like "The Awakening" (by Kate Chopin) again, only this time about a woman (heck, even a man) who can be fulfilled and successful while also striving to be a wife/mother, etc. I feel like women who choose to be housewives, or to least to put their families over career goals (hint: not all women/men/people are career-oriented) are increasingly looked down upon and scolded by society, as if they were "forced" into it by tradition/the patriarchy.

I'm curious, did you guys respond to my post about child oppression? Because seriously, it's an issue.
