Heeeey, can I get a one-shot with Malik who was dating a nervous yet oblivious reader (studying in geology) who wasn't aware they were dating for like a month? Thank you, goodbye.
This was so fun to write, you have no idea. I also made the reader gender-neutral since there was no specified gender. Hope that is ok!

After class today, I went to the library. It was there that I ran into (y/n). I wasnât expecting to see them, however, I wouldnât say I was upset that I ran into them. They turned red and were nervous, I assume they werenât expecting me either. We talked for a bit, we then decided to get our books together, and then head out to get some coffee.
While we were grabbing our books, I started thinking back on a conversation I had with Maria and Altair. How I should ask them out already, stop wasting my time. That if I donât act quickly enough, they might start dating someone else, I would miss my chance. It was then I realized that after we got coffee, I could ask them. I also decided to pay for their coffee, considering I am asking them.
The way to the coffee shop wasâŚenjoyable, lovely even. We talked about our classes, the antics our friends did, and how our lives were going. They were talkative, but I could tell that they were still a bit nervous. They seemed to relax more the longer we were together.
The shop was busy when we arrived, but we were both willing to wait for our coffee. They asked if I would be getting black coffee again, to which I smiled a bit, nodding at them. Iâm not sure why I smiled, something about them remembering my favorite coffee made me feel good. It was finally our turn to order. After telling the cashier what we were going to get, I paid for both our coffees. Of course, they insisted it was fine and that they had money, but I told them I was fine with paying, and they reluctantly put their wallet away. We managed to find a table that a couple had just left, and we waited for our coffees to be called. Arno was the one who called out my name, and handed our order to me, but not before glancing at (y/n) and back at me, throwing a wink before getting back to work.
We drank our coffee while talking. It was relaxing. Drinking coffee, talking to them, seeing them smile. I felt myself smiling, but this time I know that it was because I was happy with them. Yet the entire time, I was nervous about asking them out. Not only that, but I could tell Arno was trying to catch in on our conversation by randomly cleaning tables near us, and bringing customers that sat down nearby their orders. Later I found out he told Altair all he heard from his little mission, to which Altair and Maria asked me about.
Despite having a leech spying on us, it was still lovely to spend time with them. Of course, we finished our coffee. I picked up their coffee to throw it away, but instead, I dropped it onto the table that Arno was cleaning at the moment.
As we stood outside the shop, I stopped walking and cleared my throat. They turned, confused as to why I stopped walking. I opened my mouth, only to quickly close it, shifting my weight. Why was I so nervous? This wasnât like me. I took a deep breath and started to speak.
âI was wondering if you would like to do this more often, you know, us being aâŚthingâ I sounded like an idiot.
(y/n) turned a bit red, and looked to the side, fidgeting with their hands âI would like thatâ
âReally?â
âYeahâ
âGreat!â I sounded like a schoolboy. I couldnât help it, because at that moment I was so happy. We were dating. I had finally done it.
Today was a great day, and Iâm excited about this new relationship.

As I have written these past few weeks, (y/n) seems a bit oblivious to the fact that we are dating. It seems that everyone but them is aware that we are together.
I brought them coffee today, they were already sitting next to Maria, who was beside Altair. They were chatting, and I had gotten our favorite coffee. I gave them their coffee, and I drank out of mine. They thanked me and continued talking. I sat and listened, talking with Altair a bit, before him and Maria stood up, saying that they were going to watch Game of Thrones again. As they left, (y/n) muttered something about not having a boyfriend under breath, something I barely heard. I asked them what they had said, and they nervously waved their hand, stating that they hadnât said anything of importance. I merely shrugged, and we continued hanging out.
They always have been oblivious, but they surely wouldnât be so oblivious to the point where they donât realize we are together. Right?

I have come to the conclusion that (y/n) didnât know we were dating for a whole month. Today, on our one-month anniversary, they finally realized.
I wasnât sure what to give them for our anniversary. I figured I could get them an insulated coffee mug. I didnât want to go over the top, but I needed to give them something. So, I paid Altair to paint flowers on a white coffee mug. He asked me what flowers he would like me to paint. I hadnât thought about that, so I went down the hall towards Henry and Jacobâs dorm, to ask Henry for help with picking a flower. Henry excitedly pulled out a book full of flowers and their meanings, while Jacob moaned about how he was going to have to deal with Henry musing over plants. Henry suggested daisies since they symbolize innocence and purity, and I agreed. Although (y/n) was incredibly smart and beautiful, they were very oblivious and a nervous individual, with a very pure heart, something I have found myself wanting to protect. I thanked Henry and told Altair, who said he would do it. This was two days ago.
I decided to take (y/n) to the coffee shop again. Even if we go there all the time, we both really enjoy the shop. The shop had only two other people, which was odd, considering the shop was usually very busy. I told them to go find a seat for us, to which they whined about me paying a lot, but once again I insisted, sulking they thanked me, sitting down at the table we sat at a month ago.
I ordered the coffee, and I asked if they could put their order into the mug that I had gotten (y/n). They said âyesâ and took the mug after I paid. I sat down at our table, and it wasnât long before our order was called. I went and got it, and brought it back to them, which began our conversation.
âIs this mine?â (y/n) was looking at the mug I got them.
âYes, I bought it for you and had Altair paint itâ I wasnât going to tell them that I had to pay him, she would get extremely flustered, and I didnât want to have her worry about that, even if it was cute. âI also asked the barista if they could put your coffee in it, and they said yesâ.
âT-thank youâ They were blushing âYou know Malik, you have been awfully nice as of late, is something wrong?â
I wasnât expecting that. âWeâŚare togetherâ.
âYes, I can see you sitting in front of meâ.
I blinked and opened my mouth, but nothing came out. How do I explain that we had been dating for a month? I closed my mouth, clearing throat. â(y/n), do you remember a month ago when I asked you if we could get coffee together more often, as a thing?â
They thought for a moment âYes?â
âWhen I said âas a thingâ, I meant togetherâŚâ they looked perplexed ââŚas in datingâ.
They stared at me for a moment, confused, thinking my words over. The moment that (y/n) realized, they turned bright red. âSo we have been dating for a month?â
âYesâ.
(y/n) laid their head on the table, embarrassed. âIâm so sorryâ.
I put my coffee down and laid my hand on their head. âItâs alright, you know now.â
We continued to celebrate our anniversary by going out to the beach to get rocks, then we star gazed later that night. It was a great day, and although it took them a while to figure out we were dating, Iâm glad that (y/n) was oblivious. Makes for good memories.
