WoW Raptor animation changes
On a whim, I noticed that the standing, walking and running animations of the ‘classic’ raptors have changed.
Live:
Beta:
The differences are subtle, but noticeable; Beta raptors stand akin to Jurassic Park velociraptors. Their head is upright, and they do not flick their heads up when they open their jaws, as demonstrated by the Live raptor. Their arms are held level, whilst the Live raptors hang loose towards the ground. And Beta raptors hold their tails more upright and level compared to Live raptors.
Summary: Live raptors have a more loose posture than Beta raptors, who hold themselves more in line with what you would expect from their namesake.
This is reflected in their animations; the Beta raptors holding their heads still like a bird does, their tails more stiff and lashing less violently back and forth, and their feet no longer ‘flick’ when they push off the ground. They seem to place their feet more deliberately on the ground as they move, which makes sense considering that hunting claw.
I don’t know if this is the same with the upgraded raptor models, or the Outland ones, but since they share the same animation set, I’d hazard that they do.
