Oh, my little Velvets? I adored them. Though I know a fewhave some choices words to say to me, but someone had to bring home the bacon…But one of my fondest memories has to be the ‘Mod Wedding’ we put on for ayoung couple. It was some publicist idea to have the Velvets put on the wedding.It was 1966 and the wedding was basically a prize. It was to be held in frontof 4,500 Velvet fans. Since I’m Father of Pop I gave away the bride, while LouReed strung out “Here Comes the Bride”, Nico would moan something into the mic orgasmiclike, and Gerard Malanga waswith us, I dared him to take this whip and dance around stage. He did! It was hysterical!That was a great memory. I even gave the new couple a five-foot blow up baby-ruthbar as a wedding gift… I hope they had a big enough sweet tooth to appreciateit.  I wonder if they’re still together…?And I guess the most detestable Velvet Underground moment had to do with thefalling out. Drama, gossip and the papers ruined us. The group heard that I wastrying to launch a solo career for Nico and all hell broke loose. I didn’t knowhow to talk or really act towards everyone in the band. It got to the pointwhere I’d keep my distances if it wasn’t work related. When I found out Loufired Nico I went to talk to him. He fired me as well… I got it. But Lou, youlittle rat, I can’t believe you didn’t even invite me to your own wedding… Iwas literally heartbroken for days I hope you know…
