I tried to tell my girlfriend about the stellarian and lunarian and solarian and the other terms because I really liked them, and I really related with lunarian/duskian, specially because I hated haven the word "girl" in my identity even tho I'm not a girl. But she didn't really like it, said it's mystifying genders and they aren't very useful and now I feel ridiculous........ what do i do?
WELL IM GONNA TRY and answer this as best i can without saying “dump her” cuz i dont know yall and icant make that judgement for you, but i want you to know not only is her argument redundant(mystifyingb genders??? fuck yeah! thats kind of the point for some of us), its just wrong?
the terms are not pointless, they were created to fulfill a need that many nonbinary people had with labelig themselves with allignment language while still feeling that some form of alignmebt applied to them.
the terms were coined to remove gendered language for people who werent comfortable with it, its not a perfect solution but thats what language is, a constantly evolving method of communication. it changes all the time and people who resist that change will always be stuck in the past.
the only thing i can offer is that you find a way to clarify to her just how important this is to you, how it hurts that she doesnt believe in you, and the fact that there are hundreds of people who Absolutely Disagree that the words are pointless. and quite honestly are pretty damn offended by the statement.
