ok but zuko not figuring out lightning bending but managing redirection was super powerful in context. its such a good metaphor fr his arc i think bcoz like !! his anger is always directed in on himself before its directed outwards? his anger w aang begins as self hatred, he hates himself for disappointing his father and turns desperately to anything tht might gain his affection. his anger w iroh begins w him angry at himself for letting him down so many times nd being a shitty nephew. but none of that anger was justified and genuine nd deep down he knew that, which is why he wasnt able to bend lightning. nd in the end of the story he finally figures out who he should be directing all his anger at, ozai, and the redirection of his attack is an absolutely phenomenal representation fr that! bcoz ozai is the source of all his anger in the end: he tells zuko to capture aang, he tells zuko not to trust/respect iroh, he tells zuko he's worthless and that fuels so much anger and im so proud of him for finally turning said anger onto the person who created it in the first place. in this essay i will
