Exciting might be the wrong word hahaha! My city (Adelaide if you're interested!) doesn't usually get winters like this, we all hate it haha! We usually have weather quite similar to SoCal, and our summers are extremely hot too, with temperatures often around 40-45 degrees Celsius for weeks at a time (104-113 degrees Fahrenheit I believe that is). We're much more equipped for coping with the heat! Haha
Yeah... I know thunderstorms, flooding, hail and whatnot are serious business, but we don't see those things very much around here. I mean, it's photo-worthy if it starts hailing. 😅 We get t-storms once in a while, but they don't usually amount to much more than maybe a day of gully-washing rain. There are places around here that do see some flooding (like Mission Valley), and it's altogether unpleasant if I happen to be driving in it.
As for heat, well... yeah, that's about the size of it. 105°F (40.5°C) was today's high measured by our thermometer, and I believe it. But heat waves like this usually don't last more than a week here. It'll cool off for a bit... and then come back. 😓

Indeed it is! I'd go, but uh... I am very comfortable right here. 😉 Then there's people like my dad, who don't have (or even want) a badge, but go down there anyway, and stay outside doing Gaslamp-Con! (Walking around downtown taking pictures, and keeping an eye out for free swag. 😅)
