Based on a lot of evidence in the game, the bunker likely takes place right before the Somme and very close by. This means Henri and Augustin could have met William Schofield pre-Somme!
They managed to meet him before Will was fundamentally altered by war. I bet Tom would be jealous.

One of my many headcanons for the bunker is that Lambert is 26 during the events of the game (with Henri being 22). Before and during WW1 France had mandatory military service for 20 year old men, so Lambert would have served his conscripted two years in the military from 1911-1913. Which meeaaans I get to draw Augustin in the old french uniform!!! :DD
Also, I drew his entire rifle, perched it on his shoulder, then realized that it was so big that it went *way* out of frame. So here's the full shot of said rifle:
