Celestia kept her head raised despite how much she wished to drop it into a bow of defeat. Twilight’s words cut deep, mostly because they were true and what she had feared most would happen if she took a step forward at this time. She sighed and frowned deeply.

“You’re right, Twilight. I haven’t been the most attentive to what you said and how to approach approach it. And I have left you guessing on it. And for that I am sorry. But never believe you do not matter to me. Not for a minute. Whether I am with you in the way you feel for me or not, you mean the world to me, Twilight. And...”

Whether she could return Twilight’s affections or not was a tricky question. It could be dangerous. To open herself to romantic feelings again might open other things. But Twilight deserved her full love.

“I do feel the same way. I will admit I have been at a loss of how to approach the situation. It has been...a long time. And our lives as Princesses, forever in the public eye... it shall not make this easy, dearest.”

✰ ━Trixie’s face flushed a light pink color, and she smiled shyly after recovering from the slight surprise she felt after the sudden statement. Her expression grew less shy a moment later, and into something a bit more smug. 

How could she not feel a little full of herself when the most wonderful mare in Equestria (besides herself, of course) told her things like that?

✰ ━  ❝Oh? Is that what day it is? Funny, I didn’t even know that was a thing. I was just getting kind of annoyed by all the gross public display of affection going on around town..❞ Partially because it was sickening, and that they just had to get in the way on top of being despicable, but maybe slightly more so because she was a little jealous that she wasn’t able to show everypony up with having Starlight by her side.

Regardless, she leaned in and stretched upwards slightly in order to give the lilac unicorn a sweet and chaste kiss, her face warming up as she did so.
