How is your ultimate universe of miraculous different compared to the actual show?
There's too many lore wise to write down individually (the sentistuff, if it's even worth keeping, needs a total rework and a firm stance on what the show is even trying to say with it). I've never really thought too deeply on a rewrite because it's a lot of work for a show that I'm not even that invested in anymore.
That's kinda why I only got as far as making surface level changes to Marinette, Adrien, and Alya. Nino wouldn't even go through many "changes" so much as actually giving him a role?
But I can kinda expand on the 3 I've bothered making any notes on:
Changed her design....woops!
Some shitty attempt at a Ladybug redesign

It's something I see a lot with the occasional rewrites that float their way onto my dash—This idea that, in a better execution of Miraculous Ladybug, the yin-yang duo would be perfectly balanced. I'm sure it's just a cause of fatigue-induced contrarianism, but I think it and a lot of the usual checkbox-fixes ML rewrites try to add in come off as a little close-minded?
It's a symptom of what I think is a broader issue with how creatives, especially creatives within fandom, approach magic systems. There's this conflation of "good writing" with an extremely detailed, perfectly balanced, and granular power system, and beyond that the conflation of it with the idea that you need to have an explicit answer prepared for everything. The quality of a magic system, in that case, comes down to how close you can get it to the Platonic Ideal of a trading card game. Themes and greater symbolic value are stylistic flair, if not trivia for the description of these metaphorical trading cards.
I know that Ladybug and Chat Noir are in theory supposed to be equals in the fights, and working off that maxim would lead to them both having things to do formula-wise in those fights and so on, but it's such an easy fix to just put whitewash over this obvious writing flaw, don't you think? Especially when, say, the powers could be inherently unbalanced from the start and these two characters could want to be equals regardless and have to struggle with the concept that one of their miraculouses is inherently deemed "lesser". If you tried to ask me if I'd seen a rewrite with that concept before, I genuinely couldn't name one, and that sucks because reconciling their broken powers could lead to a lot of nice, tender Ladynoir moments.
Is it just that we've gotten to the point in fandom where everything in consumed by way of trivia and powerscaling and blobslop? Is it an allergy to "unfair" power systems? Are the popular fixes just popular because they're easy to replicate? I genuinely don't know. The phenomenon intrigues me.
AU where Marinette gets replaced by a sentimonster replica created by Gabriel, whose purpose is to take over Marinette's life and to ensure that the truth about his villainy never ever comes out.
So Senti!Marinette lives her life as an aspiring fashion designer, teen superhero and Adrien's girlfriend. She's a perfect copy of the real Marinette. Nobody suspects a thing...
A Rework for Chloe&Zoe from Sole Crusher on.
This was originally something I stream-of-consciousnessed out to a friend, so it might read a little funny. 😁 Putting in a readmore just to be polite for anyone scrolling blogs. Chosen for Dramatic effect!
So we are dropping the 'quirky cute blonde' cover for Zoé. Those are about a dime a dozen in media. 😅 We have a chance for some fun.
Zoé shows up and meets Mari first still and Zoé is *fashionable* but she is specifically *teen* fashion. She should be less made up than Chloé more 'fresh'. Where Chloé is ascerbic Zoé is vivacious. There's just a hint of sharpness. Never *mean* but now and then some little joke or quip can give the 'was that a dig'? Vibe. Think of someone working a crowd.
She grew up with her mother, though not *with* her mother because, Audrey. Zoé was kind of a group-raised child by the employees of Style Queen. She doesn't have the need to domineer that Chloé has, but she has a strong desire to be liked by everyone and knows about putting on 'faces' for people. She does have classist views, but her desire to be liked means she is very willing to 'mingle'. Think of it more as a gentle paternal classism vs Chloé's overt.
When she meets Chloé it goes similar. Chloé is a little less condescending because Zoé is obviously already fashionable. She is still taking the lead though. Zoé is less deer in headlights and more *watching*. She plays along to an extent, but it is lower key. Zoé becomes very aware quickly of the school dynamics.
When Chloé proposes her first prank, Zoé pushes back but not in the way most would. She says no and Chloé is in a huff. Zoe asks why bother. Chloé says it's funny and they deserve it.
Zoé looks her dead in the eyes and says 'You know nobody likes you, right?”
