Damn, ain’t that the truth. Creating this playlist and dancing along to it right now definitely just gave me a happy boost so thank YOU for that and I hope you enjoy! Mandi and I are happy running this together for the time being. Something something more cooks in the kitchen does not necessarily a better soup make, and man do I love a good soup.

That sounds fun but TBQH what I would really like to have is an automatic shut off on the sign up form... there are two spots left, and I have to manually shut it off, so I am just sitting here staring at it, lol. Last year took longer, but if it is going to be like this moving forward I shall endeavor to find a sign up form with an automatic shut off once we hit numbers AND a counter widget!

not to be the "anon who is too WOKE" but can I ask for another song if I had a political/ethic stand against the musician in question. Like i'm so sorry but I wont be creating anything if the singer is D4vd as an example
Hm. The short answer is no, you could not request a different song. If it were the case that you refused to work with your assignment you would have to drop out of Mixtape and we would find a pinch hitter.
That being said, I do expect that all of our participants are approaching this event in good faith, with the expectation to work with whatever their assignment is.
Perhaps I am optimistic, but my hope is that no participant would purposefully submit a song or artist that was overtly problematic. At the end of the day this is not something we've had happen before, and if there was an instance where it became an actual problem, we would handle it based on the specific circumstances.

The mixtape doesn’t just have to be ships right? Could it be a song aboit a character surrounding a certain aspect such as Neil and his grief around his mom as an example? I assume a ship song would make it easier but was curious
You can submit just a singular character plus the song prompt, yes. Keep in mind though that your creator may choose to put that character in a relationship of their choice, and that you cannot dictate how they will interpret the song prompt. In other words, what you may interpret as grief around Mary, the creator may interpret in a whole different direction.

Hello. I really want to do Mixtape this year but I don’t have a Spotify account to link the song. Would that mean I can’t join? Or can I get someone to add it for me?
Great question. Okay, so the purpose behind this is that we do make a playlist of all the songs each year. Early on in Mixtape a few people submitted songs that were not on Spotify so we couldn't add them to the playlist. As long as someone can confirm for you that your song is on Spotify, it is okay if you submit a YouTube link, for example.
As a side note: I am aware of some current controversy over Spotify. We will be using Spotify this year, but I will be looking into potentially changing that up for Vol 7.
