Franz Schubert: Erlkönig, a short film inspired by Goethe 's creepy poetic tale about an frightening encounter with the Erlking, a king of the fairies, during a frantic late night ride through the forest, based a well-known musical setting composed by Franz Schubert in 1815. As part of Oxford Lieder 's 2015 Schubert Project, filmmaker Jeremy Hamway-Bidgood combined shadow-puppetry and other traditional techniques to create an effective visual retelling of the story.
