I fucking love Jake & Brooke & I think theyβre a severely underrated ship. Of course thereβs the childhood friends to lovers thing - the fun banter - the little ways Jake shows he knows Brooke like bringing her pepperoni & pineapple pizza even though she mostly eats kale these days - the way Brooke consistently opens up to Jake & only Jake in a way she doesnβt to anyone else, not even Emma or Riley or Audrey because he knows her like nobody else & she can be real with him - sometimes he also pushes her to be real when sheβs trying to be fake in a way nobody else ever does.
But also they both suck so bad & grow so much. They both start the series as bullies - I mean, bad bullies. Brooke was part of Ninaβs outing of Audrey & kept the secret about Emma being a bet for Will. Jake was part of the group that left Noah in the middle of the lake. Theyβre both genuinely awful at the start.
And Jake is even willing to manipulate Brooke if it means making Will suspect #1 in the mayors eyes. Heβs disturbingly ready to show Brooke what he has every reason to believe is a video of her dad disposing of her mothers body (thereβs an argument to be made he convinced himself she deserved to see & that he justified it to himself but itβs still all for his own selfish reasons). Like these two go through some ROUGH times & come out stronger in the end but because itβs Scream the love was there & it matters but it was not enough to save them & I go so insane over that π
