Reliable Competition - Gloria Windsor/Cynthia Taylor/Nina Robertson
A/N: New fic for the latest prompt from @polyamships polyamoryshippingday.
âSheâs not competitionâŚâ Cynthiaâs voice softens even as she moves to tuck a curling strand of hair behind Gloriaâs ear, her voice softening further when Gloria huffs out a small, nervous, sigh. She hates the idea, of course, hates that she has to let Nina into her world, her life, perhaps even her bed. âSheâs competition.â Nina had said as much the same morning, but now, as she finds her way into the office, she canât help feeling a little worry for the other woman. Cynthia barely talks about it, unless itâs clear Gloria is breaking, but this time itâs hard not to see it. âSheâs competition.â Gloriaâs words are soft, low and slightly tempered with sadness. Itâs clear now, to Nina, what sheâs thinking. Sheâs older, not by much, but enough to be upset by the thought of losing someone she loves to someone who isnât as old, or feeling push aside. So she speaks up, gentle, cautious and warm. âHealthy competition only, Gloria. I donât want to push you outâŚ. Iâd much rather get to know you. See if you canât keep me on my toes.â

Rewatching Mozart in the jungle 3x05
When Hailey asks Rodrigo if he is in love with Alessandra, he screams âWhy do you ask me that question? You, you of all people, why do you ask me that?â. He obviously feels guilty because his declaration of love was out of his impetuosity and his attraction towards beautiful and complicated female artists, but I think itâs more than this.Â
Rodrigo is hurt because Hailey should know better: he is a âwhirl of contradictionsâ, eccentric and overdramatic, but especially devoted to music, so heâd say or do anything just for the love of it. Whatâs more, after all thatâs happened in the first two seasons, Hailey should be aware that he has feelings for her, no matter whom heâs sleeping with or what he says. Rodrigo is basically saying: âWhy do you ask me that question? You know me better than anyone else, my abuela told you we are going to be soulmates, so how can you believe I could love another woman?â.Â
In response to a tweet about a piece of music used in Mozart in the Jungle, Gael GarcĂa Bernal clued us in on what Rodrigo has (allegedly) been up to since last we saw him...
But then, the original tweeter (who is, herself, a conductor) came back with THE BEST response:
Absent a statement from Jason Schwartzman et. al about what really happened to those characters, Iâm taking this as official word, and itâs nice to have even the smallest bit of closure about this wonderful show that deserved more than it got.
