“   so   rich   assholes   aren’t   your   type   got   it   .   you   could’ve   mentioned   that   before   i   took   you   out on   all   of   those   fun   dates   .   didn’t   seem   like   you   minded   me   that   much   then   .   ”

“  god  you’re  infuriating  !  ”  mitch has  had  enough  of  femme  ,  frustration  coating  his  tone  as  he  spoke  ,  digits  lifting  to  rake  through  short  curls  ,  “  do  you  think  i  want  any  of  this  ?  news  flash  ,  love  :  no  i  don’t  .  ”  he had  been  forced  into  doing  this  just  as  she  had  ,  engagement  ring  sitting  on  her  finger  and  wedding  day  just  a  few  weeks  from  now  .  “  but  that’s  how  it’s  going  to  be  ,  so  just  .  .  .  stop  making  things  so  goddamn  difficult  !  and  at  least  put  in  the  effort  to  get  to  know  me  .  you  and  i  are  going  to  be  stuck  together  from  now  on  ,  and  that’s  how  it’s  going  to  be  .  so just . . . quit acting like this ! ”

mitch  keeps  bumping  into  her  ,  each  encounter  sending  his  heart  into  a  flutter  hues  caught  her  familiar  features  .  and  today  wasn  no  different  .  he  finds  himself  gravitating  towards  her  ,  chocolate  orbs  searching  for  hers  ,  hoping  for  some  kind  of  sign  .  one  that  would  tell  him  she  wasn’t  going  to  run  away  .  it’s  then  however  ,  that  he  notices  a  silver  bracelet  on  the  ground  ,  and  he  leaned  down  to  pick  it  up  standing  up  ,  he  finally  broke  the  silence  ,  making  his  presence  known    .  “  talia  ,  ”  voice  is  soft  ,  just  loud  enough  for  her  to  hear  him  ,  “  is  this  yours  ?  ”  he  lifts  his  hand  then  ,  the  accessory  held  delicately  between  his  digits  ,  as  he  waits  for  her  response  .

it's  the  same  vicious  cycle  they  refuse  to  break  out  of  :  they  made  up  only  to  split  again  and  claw  at  each  other’s  hearts  .  a  continuous  push  and  pull  that  suffocated  them  both  ,  but  it’s  almost  as  if  it  breathed  life  into  their  lungs  too  ,  unable  to  get  enough  of  each  other  .  the  sight  of  her  with  another  poisons  him  however  ,  even  if  he’d  brought  someone  else  tonight  as  well  ,  their  goal  was  as  always  the  same  one  ,  only  this  time  he’d  been  the  one  to  break  first  .  “  you  could  at  least  get  a  fucking  room  with  him  .  ”  mitch  tells  her  the  second  the  catches  her  alone  ,  pauses  to  down  what’s  left  of  his  drink  .  “  i  didn’t  know  you  were  into  losers  now  anyway  .  what  happened  to  you  having  good  taste  ?  ”

“  you  keep  telling  me  you’re  going  to  end  things  with  him  ,  but  you  haven’t  .  so  tell  me  ,  what  are  we  doing  exactly  ?  because  if  this  is  just  some  game  to  you  .  .  .  i  don’t  want  any  part  in  it  .  ”

spots  them  amongst  sea  of  faces  ,  smug  grin  adorning  homme’s  features  as  he  makes  his  way  through  the  crowded  room  .  hatred  for  each  other  had  eclipsed  into  something  else  last  weekend  ,  night  spent  together  one  that  had  occupied  his  mind  more  than  he’d  like  to  admit  .  he’s  toyed  with  the  idea  ,  sent  texts  hinting  at  mitch’s  intentions  :  he  wants  it  happening  again  .  he  clears  his  throat  ,  speaks  up  to  interrupt  ongoing  conversation  .  “  missed  me  ?    -  i  bet  that  you  did  .  ”
