Currently reading ATYD for the first time (I know I'm late...)
I'm on chapter 51
Just wanted to talk about the scene where Sirius is locking himself up in the bathroom because of Snape insulting him about his family (that bastard) (Snevillus they could never make me like you)
It wounded me how James asked Rem to leave - the way it hurted him to say it, he was scared to pain Remus' feelings because it didn't meant to be mean, but at the same time all he wanted to do was to help Siri and he thought he was doing the right thing
What hurted me even more was Sirius letting Remus in but not James, even tho he was the one who tried to make Sirius feel better, tried to help - it wasn't the right way to do it indeed but my poor baby never experienced toxic family dynamic
I can't stop wondering how Jamie must have felt when Sirius said 'Remus can come in' and then closed the door brutally, even tho he was the one who tried to help the most - he knocked and tried to talk to Sirius through the door just for the latter to talk back harshly and letting Remus (who wanted to leave Sirius alone instead) enter
I'M NOT CRITICIZING SIRIUS OR REMUS, NOT AT ALL - just thinking of how James must have felt, he probably felt guilty for not being able to understand or help his best friend properly
However I loved that little moment between Rem and Siri - Sirius' anger issues implied by him not controlling his magic when upset was priceless, and the way he just wanted to stay with Remus and no one else was just the cutest
Anyways I love ATYD, I know I should have read it earlier!!
P.S: the chapter James Potter and Lumply Elephant Dung was amazing, never laughed so hard
FIC REC! FIC REC! FIC REC! FIC REC!!!!

Some of my favourite (both painful and sweet) moments from ATYD
â ïž Spoiler alert chapters 76 to 172 â ïž
I wish I saved more but I either got this idea too late or wasnât feeling like saving anything during the last parts. Phrases and lines I enjoyed (can you say so about the moments which hurt like a bitch?) the most are in bold.
âAnything for our Moony!â Sirius grinned again, and suddenly everything was back to normal, and the dorm room was just their dorm room, and these incredible people were just his friends.
- Chapter 76: Fifth Year: Moony & Co.
âWhat happened to him?â Sirius asked, very quietly, âWhat happened to make him end up here, like this?â
âHe got kicked out of St Edmundâs, two years ago,â Remus yawned, his eyes growing heavy. âDidnât have anywhere else to go⊠canât get a job because he didnât do his exams at school. And Iâm guessing he hasnât got a proper address.â
âRemus?â
âMm?â
âThis wouldnât happen to you, would it? Because youâve got us.â
âYeah,â he murmured sleepily, only half paying attention, âIâve got you, Padfoot. Donât worry about me.â
- Chapter 118: Summer 1977: Part 5
 âTell me a secret? A nice one?â
Remus paused. He kissed Siriusâs hair.
âIâm mental about you, too.â
- Chapter 126: Sevenths Year: Christmas Part 2.
âRosmerta!â Sirius called out, raising a hand, âAnother round, darling?â
âRight you are my loveâŠâ she called back.
âFlirt.â Remus nudged him under the table.
âIâm trying to get you drunk.â Sirius replied, piously, âAs requested.â Â
- Chapter 139: Seventh Year: Drunkards
âSirius?â
âYeah?â
âYouâre magic.â
- Chapter 139: Seventh Year: Drunkards
âAnything for our Moon---â
Remus shut him up with a kiss.
- Chapter 143: Seventh Year: Breakdown
He didnât want his only monument to be the whomping willow, or that godforsaken shack.
âHow do ghosts happen?â He asked, thoughtfully, watching Nearly Headless Nick drift by, chatting with the Fat Friar. Â
âMerlin, Moony, cheer the fuck up,â Sirius groaned, mouth full of chips, âYouâd have to be dead to become a ghost. And I sâpose youâd have to die here, too, on school grounds.â
Remus shrugged. Dying at Hogwarts didnât seem very likely, unless something dire was going to happen in the next few days.
- Chapter 149: Seventh Year: Legacy - Part OneÂ
âBut it's definitely him. Has to be.â
âYou're sure?!â
âThe first thing he said when he landed was âfuckâ, Iâm pretty certain.â Sirius snapped.
â Chapter 162: The War: Moony's Story
âMm,â Remus shifted, making himself more comfortable, âPlease call me Moony? No one has for so long.â
âMoony.â Sirius leaned forward and kissed his cheek very gently. âI love you.â
âI love you too.â Remus smiled, slipping into a warm and happy dream.
â Chapter 162: The War: Moony's Story
âI know who you are.â Sirius whispered into the empty quiet of the dark bedroom.
âHm?â Remus asked, sleepy and confused. Sirius pulled Remusâs hand to his mouth and kissed his fingers.
âYou said you donât know who you are any more. But I do. Youâre my Moony. Always will be. Ok?â
âOk, Padfoot.â
For now it was enough.
â Chapter 163: The War: Late Spring 1979
âImagine that!â Mary said, clearing away tea cups and mugs of coffee left behind from an Order meeting, âTheir kids are all going to grow up together, and go to Hogwarts together⊠itâs sort of nice, isnât it?â
Remus nodded in agreement. He would have given anything to be raised by any one of these people; to have a childhood surrounded by magic and love and laughter.
â Chapter 168: The War: Spring & Summer
1980Â
âItâs awful, not trusting anyone, isnât it?â Peter said as they left that meeting.
âYeah.â Remus agreed glumly.
âItâs necessary.â Sirius said. âAnd if I knew who the spy was, Iâd kill them myself. I wouldnât even need magic.â
Peter and Remus stared at him, shocked
â Chapter 172: The War: Summer 1981
âHello? Hello, Remus, is that you?â
âMary? Hi! I just got back - where the hell is everybody?!â
There was a strange silence on the end of the phone, and a horrible static prickle ran down his spine. âMary?!â
âYou havenât heardâŠâ
âJesus Christ, Mary, what?!â
âRemus⊠something awful has happened.â
She started explaining, and Remus fell to his knees as the whole world began to fall apart.
