John Barrymore born Feb 14/Feb 15 (no one is sure) 1882- May 29, 1942
He hadn’t wanted to be an actor, particularly he hadn’t wanted to be dubbed "Ethel's baby brother"; he had wanted to be an artist. His father. Maurice, taunted him: "Do you want to be an artist and daub all your life; or do you want to be an actor and make loooove?"
John Barrymore, it eventually turned out, wanted to be an actor. He liked living in glass houses- and in a way was concealed by their glare. The world saw all his poses, heard all his wisecracks, without ever really knowing what he was like. He called himself "Punchinello today, Melpomene tomorrow, Benedick forever."
Had a really nice birthday yesterday. I got to see Willie Nelson. We got the best seats. Glad I can share my birthday with my dear twin Haley Also I love you Willie Nelson, he smiled at us and gave me one of the kindest experiences.
11 Questions
I was tagged by the lovely laliwantsatimemachine!
Rule 1 - Post the rules.
Rule 2 - Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and then make 11 new ones.
Rule 3 - Tag 11 people and link them to your post.
Rule 4 - Let them know you’ve tagged them.
Lali's questions/my answers:
1. What’s your favourite flower? - I don't have a particular favorite. I quite like sunflowers, so I guess I'll go with that!
2. If you had a house in the country and a house/apartment in a large city, where would you spend more time? - In the country, definitely. I wouldn't even have the city place -- I'd rather be out of the city 100% of the time.
3. What do you prefer? Drinking tea or coffee? - Coffee if it's hot, tea if it's on ice!
4. Writing with a biro or a pencil? - Biro (I actually had to google and make sure that meant "pen" since I'm American. Definitely going to call pens biros from now on, haha.)
5. Sleeping in pyjamas or nightdress? - Nightdress or very long t-shirt/tank
6. What’s your favourite ice-cream flavour? - Mint chip or black cherry
7. Which was the first James Dean film you saw? - Giant
8. What was your favourite cartoon when you were a child? - On television it was definitely Arthur. My favorite animated film was All Dogs Go to Heaven.
9. Have you ever been to Paris (France, not Texas or any other Paris)? If yes, what did you like about it best? If no, would you like to go? - I've never been anywhere in Europe! The only place I've been outside of the US is Canada. I'd love to visit Paris some day, but I've got to hit up Belgium and Scotland first.
10. If you could write a letter to a dead person and knew s/he would read it, whom would you write it to? - My nanny (maternal great grandma). I never got to meet her. She died just before my older sister was born. I would love to write to her and let her know how much respect I have for her, and how much I wish I had the opportunity to get to know her! I feel a very strong connection to her even though we never met.
11. Do you spend more time on YouTube watching films, or random clips and funny videos? - I'm subscribed to a ton of people on youtube, so I stick to my subscriptions, which are mostly "booktube" videos and vlogs. For films I stick to DVDs (from my collection, the library and the rental store), TCM and Netflix (Instant and delivery).
My questions:
1. When/how did you become interested in classic film?
2. If you had to move to a town and stay there, with no travel at all, for the next ten years, where would you choose to live?
3. What is your favorite book-to-film adaptation?
4. What is your unrealistic dream job?
5. Do you collect anything? If so, what do you collect and how large is your collection?
6. If you could re-cast any 2011 film with classic actors, which film would you choose and who would your cast be?
7. If you could create a national holiday, what would it be?
8. What is your oldest memory?
9. If time travel was possible, would you travel to a different period and stay there, or go for a glimpse and then come back to the present?
10. Who are your non-fictional OTPs?
11. If your life was made into a film, what genre would it be?

misscarousel replied to your post: Okay, I promise, last one for awhile...
21 and 22
21: Whats your least favorite movie? Hmmm, wow, I mean, I would say some of the worst films I've seen are Soul Plane, Phone Booth, Speed 2: Cruise Control, Bubble Boy, & Howard the Duck really is awful, but it seemed to always come on, so I'd just watch it if nothing else was on.
22: Where would you bury hidden treasure if you had some? I would bury it somewhere at my Grandma's ranch. I've got a few spots up my sleeve.
Thanks so much for asking :)
