The All Power basically vaporised him.

Blaine knows the same thing happened to the Pink Dagger, but now that he was actually part of it, it feels a bit too violent for his liking, but it’s happened and nothing can be done.

“This is actually a big discussion in the fandom,” Kurt says.

“What?”

“The ethics of the ending of the battle, and the power of the All Power. It’s a whole thing.”

Kurt is still here. The king and queen requested him to stay just a little bit longer, so that he can give a testimony. Kurt and Blaine recount how they travelled across Daltonia, finding books, mapping out the kingdom for the Sergeant and unknowingly giving him power. Kurt and Blaine also agree to still keep the existence of The Cooper Chronicles secret. It helps that the copies of the book got burned in the explosion and cannot be used as evidence. They just say that those books were books from Kurt’s world, which isn’t a lie.

Javier is still in the infirmary in a coma, since his fall was heavy, but Cooper and the rest of his posse also tell the king, queen and court about the battle. Cooper has a new mission: finding out if there are more people like the Sergeant. Kurt and Blaine obviously didn’t reveal why the Sergeant had magical powers, since that would mean explaining the existence of B.D. Dalton, but they agree that there could be more people like him out here. How many people has B.D. Dalton scrapped in her writing process?

But after four days, everything settles down. Well, almost everything. Kurt and Blaine have been sort of dancing around their kiss and Kurt’s love confession, especially since Kurt’s leave is imminent. That’s why Cooper’s All Power saved the mirror. Cooper didn’t know much, but he somehow realised that that mirror was a portal to Kurt’s home. The knights have scoured out all the other mirrors in Castle Town, destroying them in the process, to make sure no other portal would exist.

“Kurt got misplaced, and this entire ordeal started as a way for him to go home. It led us to unravelling another evil plan to disrupt Daltonia. Helping him home is the least we could do.”

And once Kurt’s gone home, the knights will destroy this mirror too.

It’s a one way trip.

Silva presents Kurt his clothes.

“This was a beast to repair, but I did it,” she sounds proud, “Also, who is this Marc? I find his work inspiring!”

“I don’t think Marc would mind it if you are inspired to make your own designs,” Kurt says.

“Great! It will be a gift for my wife!” she says happily, “I must go to my atelier! Adieu!”

“… I never understood why Silva spoke random words in French,” Kurt says to himself as he watches her skip down the hallway.

Then he turns to Blaine.

“Time to get dressed, then,” Blaine says quietly.

“Yeah.”

“I’ll see you in the throne room?”

Kurt nods.

That’s Blaine’s cue to leave. He doesn’t know what to do. He can’t sit in his tower and wait. He goes to Cooper’s chambers, since Cooper is probably the only one who knows that there was more between him and Kurt.

This time, Blaine knocks. He’s learnt from his mistakes. Cooper tells him to come in.

Blaine didn’t expect to see Cooper, Mel and Arasha. Arasha looks upset. Mel has tears in his eyes. Why did Blaine have to walk into this?

“Blaine, what a surprise,” Cooper says.

“Everything alright?” Arasha asks.

Blaine shakes his head and the next thing he knows, he breaks down in front of Cooper, his wife and his lady on the side.

“Kurt is leaving today,” he cries out and the tears fall down his face.

“Oh Blaine,” Arasha comes over to hug him, “Everything will be alright. Everything will be fine.”

Will it, though?

Blaine, the king, Cooper, Mo, Mel and Arasha are waiting in the throne room, ready to say goodbye. Kurt and the queen arrive.

“Where were you, my love?” the king asks.

“Kurt wanted to say goodbye to Javier in the infirmary,” she answers.

Kurt nods.

“I wanted to thank him. Eileen was there at his side, but I don’t know Daltonian sign, so the queen offered to interpret.”

“How kind of you,” the king says.

Blaine agrees. Kurt is so kind.

The king gives a touching speech about bravery and standing up against evil, but Blaine doesn’t hear it. He’s too unfocused. When everyone starts walking towards the theatre, his feet move automatically. It’s as if he’s in a dissociative state and doesn’t want to realise what is about to happen.

But it is going to happen.

They arrive at the remnants of the theatre. They’re heavily guarded by soldiers. Citizens of Castle Town are guided away, which is difficult, since the theatre is the centre of a busy town.

“Kurt of New York!” the king says, “It was a pleasure to have you in our kingdom and I wish you well in your endeavours in yours.”

And then, to Blaine’s shock, his parents bow down three for Kurt. He can’t remember if he’s ever seen the king and queen bow to someone. They’re the ones who get bowed to. Cooper and his posse follow suit.

Kurt looks positively overwhelmed at the sight.

“Thank you, sire. I will never forget my time here,” he says. Then Kurt says goodbye to everyone one-by-one. Blaine’s the last in line.

“Blaine.”

“Kurt.”

“I will miss you the most.”

“Must you go?” he asks, and he’s about to cry.

“If I could stay for you… But I also have loved ones in my world,” Kurt laments, “My dad… And I don’t know how long I have been gone. What if time has passed, and my dad is worried sick? We already lost my brother earlier this year…”

Dad? Brother? There is so much about Kurt’s life that Blaine doesn’t know about, and now Blaine won’t get the chance to learn about it.

“I don’t want to leave you,” Kurt says, “But I also don’t want to leave them. At least you know I will be well.”

“I understand,” Blaine gives in. He’s had to live with fear of Cooper’s life many times. It’s unbearable. He cannot put that upon Kurt’s family on Earth.

“I love you,” Kurt says softly.

“I love you too.”

And then Kurt kisses his cheek. Blaine closes his eyes and revels in it. It’s all he has now. But Kurt must’ve changed his mind, because he then kisses Blaine fully. Blaine kisses back, not caring about the fact that his family, Cooper’s posse, and Royal guards are around. This is their last moment, so he takes it.

Kurt breaks away.

“Goodbye.”

“Goodbye,” Blaine’s voice cracks.

Kurt walks towards the mirror, looks back one time to wave, and walks through the portal. His body seems to dissolve into the purple swirl. Light emits from the mirror.

And then he’s gone.

“Blaine…” his mother puts an arm around him, but Blaine’s frozen. It’s happened. Kurt’s really gone.

“Guards,” the king orders sadly and he gestures towards the mirror.

Blaine turns around and walks away. He can’t bear to watch the destruction of the portal.

It’s weird how life goes on, but Blaine barely registers it. Weeks pass in a blur. He gets asked for his opinion on Cooper and Arasha’s upcoming divorce, he gets updates on Cooper’s new quests, his parents try to talk to him about what happened, and his friends come over to cheer him up, but nothing matters.

He does visit Javier on the day that he gets discharged. His face may never be the same, but Javier doesn’t mind. He’s glad he can go home with Eileen to their bakery in a nearby town. Blaine didn’t even know they owned a bakery!

“I heard your friend came to visit me,” he says and signs.

“Yeah,” is all that Blaine says. Even his signing shows his sadness.

“Hang in there, my man,” Javier pats him on the back. Then he joins his wife to the outside world.

Once Blaine’s in his chambers, he cries again. He’s been crying a lot. He didn’t know heartbreak could be this painful. He tries to tell himself that he’s silly for falling for Kurt. They didn’t spend that much time together and it was always going to end this way, but then he remembers Kurt’s laugh and eyes and everything and he feels sad all over again.

He’s so kind. He saw Javier, even when Javier wasn’t awake.

Blaine misses him more than anything.

David keeps writing his stupid books, but Blaine’s asked him not to send him any more drafts.

“Oh. Uh. Okay,” David sounds disappointed.

Wes’s eyes dart between his friends. Trent also looks nervous.

“Will you ever talk to us?” Nick asks gently.

But Blaine shakes his head.

“No.”

“Blaine…” Jeff sighs, but Blaine shakes his head again. He’s firm about this.

He doesn’t want to talk about this, ever.

But he should at least try to move on.
