āare you in the habit of holding grudges?ā + Louis!
ā Holding grudges? ā comes the echoed question, coated in amused bewilderment in spite of his best efforts to keep his usual serenity. He gently shakes his head no, hides his hands in the pockets of his slacks. ā I used to. When I was younger and stupider and significantly easier to influence into senseless violence and murder. ā A pause, during which he offers a shrug in @misledtale's direction as well as a subtle smile. ā Younger as a vampire, that is. ā
it took far too long for that fire to die down; that much, he remembers clearly. Sunlight is agonizing, or at least it was, but there's nothing that compares to a pyre the origin of which was nowhere else but within. At the very least, that second youth is long past: in a sense, loneliness was, to him, the balm that so many others consider hellish and unfathomable.
ā Now, I find they aren't worth the energy expenditure. Besides, after such a lengthy life, if that habit still persisted and I held a grudge against those that wronged me, I'd have no time to rest. It would've made for a bloodier existence, too. ā his smile at Louis widens ever slightly, but it's enough for the corners of his eyes to crease. ā And it's in my best interest to avoid such a thing. ā
